Before I start I thought I should say something. It's good to see that the thread hadn't been flooded by negative/flaming remarks from the trek-haters out there. BTW, excuse the extra long post...I just have a lot to say.
Fav series: I only saw a few eps of Enterprise, so not anough to base a proper opinion on, but it seems okay. To me, the original series is merely an old cult sci-fi show, which I don't even give a second thought. (but I like the movies with the old crew though) So that leaves, TNG, DS9 and VOY.
I like TNG for the characters, but generally the series was kinda slow. I liked DS9 for those things involving the Cardassians/Dominion, but beyond that, it wasn't that great. Voyager had some good episodes, but I really disliked the inconsistancies that kept appearing.
Voyager Inconsistancies: In an episode of Voyager when the Doctor was reactivated 700 years later. According to that episode, they lost the doctor before they got home...so what happened? The only thing I can think of is that he was lost during their last 15 (or 25) years, which never happened because of "future" Janeway's interference.
Then there was "Year of Hell". Proved my point EXACTLY that Seven was basically a replacement for Kes, as she did the exact same things. Which brings up another point...Kes told them all about that race that they would encounter, so it's like that previous episode never happened. I hate it when that happens...it destroys that sence of continuity, and in some cases, affects my enjoyment.
Now onto the Borg. From the TNG episode Best of Both Worlds, and the movie First Contact, you saw a Federation fleet struggle against ONE ship. In voyager, you discover the Borg have thousands, possibly TENS of thousands of ships...then you discover there's a transwarp hub and one of the exit appetures leads to earth. Is it just me or do you think they made them a little over-powered?
Nemesis: In retrospect, I thought it was a good movie...but as I watched it, a part of me felt disappointed. I ruined my enjoyment hoping for things that never happened. In these stories, it's usually up to the Enterprise crew to heroically(sp?) save someone else...but in this, it's more like they were just trying to save themselves. The point is, it would've been WAY more tense/exciting if that weapon was charging up, getting ready to kill everyone on earth (as planned).
Since I know what to expect, I'm sure I'll enjoy it more next time...just a shame they took it out of the cinema so soon. (BTW, I'm from the UK, so it was released in January) Oh yeah, and from what I remember, the battle scenes looked really cool, so that's something to look forward to.
