This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

i think that was a pussy cop out with the federation's friendship with species 8472 they could have had some real story going bringing into doubt the federations use of biological weapons against them but they had to ham it up...to shame

The borg are overused honestly, they were really evil in TNG because the feds couldn't do much to them, then Voy begun making them a regular and they lost a lot of nastiness. The best villian/Allie are the Romulans, the best fight scenes are from DS9 the fleet action later on in the dominion wars is just sweet
I saw Nemesis yesterday. I think it was very good. Sad about Data, but glad that the writers did not chicken out to do it. Memorable space battle! easily the equal of Dominion War, Wolf 359, and First Contact's Borg Incursion.
PS: What happened to Quantum Torpedos?

Before I start I thought I should say something. It's good to see that the thread hadn't been flooded by negative/flaming remarks from the trek-haters out there. BTW, excuse the extra long post...I just have a lot to say.
Fav series: I only saw a few eps of Enterprise, so not anough to base a proper opinion on, but it seems okay. To me, the original series is merely an old cult sci-fi show, which I don't even give a second thought. (but I like the movies with the old crew though) So that leaves, TNG, DS9 and VOY.
I like TNG for the characters, but generally the series was kinda slow. I liked DS9 for those things involving the Cardassians/Dominion, but beyond that, it wasn't that great. Voyager had some good episodes, but I really disliked the inconsistancies that kept appearing.
Voyager Inconsistancies: In an episode of Voyager when the Doctor was reactivated 700 years later. According to that episode, they lost the doctor before they got home...so what happened? The only thing I can think of is that he was lost during their last 15 (or 25) years, which never happened because of "future" Janeway's interference.
Then there was "Year of Hell". Proved my point EXACTLY that Seven was basically a replacement for Kes, as she did the exact same things. Which brings up another point...Kes told them all about that race that they would encounter, so it's like that previous episode never happened. I hate it when that happens...it destroys that sence of continuity, and in some cases, affects my enjoyment.
Now onto the Borg. From the TNG episode Best of Both Worlds, and the movie First Contact, you saw a Federation fleet struggle against ONE ship. In voyager, you discover the Borg have thousands, possibly TENS of thousands of ships...then you discover there's a transwarp hub and one of the exit appetures leads to earth. Is it just me or do you think they made them a little over-powered?
Nemesis: In retrospect, I thought it was a good movie...but as I watched it, a part of me felt disappointed. I ruined my enjoyment hoping for things that never happened. In these stories, it's usually up to the Enterprise crew to heroically(sp?) save someone else...but in this, it's more like they were just trying to save themselves. The point is, it would've been WAY more tense/exciting if that weapon was charging up, getting ready to kill everyone on earth (as planned).
Since I know what to expect, I'm sure I'll enjoy it more next time...just a shame they took it out of the cinema so soon. (BTW, I'm from the UK, so it was released in January) Oh yeah, and from what I remember, the battle scenes looked really cool, so that's something to look forward to.

It would be more dramatic to fight to save Earth, I admit. But it would be implausible! They would have to add more ships to assist the Enterprise, since an Earth left undefended save by Enterprise is a sure walk-out. Try to look at it this way, if Enterprise did not fight to save themselves, the Scimitar would've continued as plan to destroy Earth. So in a sense, they did save Earth!

I´m actually sorry to say that I haven´t seen any Star Trek movie or episode before So I can´t say I hate it, but I can´t say I love it either. I´m a Star Wars fan (which we of course aren´t going to discuss, because I want to avoid ST vs SW ), but I would really like to give Star Trek a change, but where to begin ? Does any of you have a suggestion where to begin right now when I haven´t seen anything of ST before, because I DO now that there are a lot of movies and episodes ?
ST vs SW is dumb. Just as dumb as X2 vs FL vs Eve.
If you want to try ST, well the time is ripe. Go to your video rental and take home The Wrath of Khan and First Contact. And go see Nemesis in the movies. The rest are no good. And the series, they have Voyager in Net5 at 18.00 every sunday. If you can stand the tediousness of Deep Space Nine's early season, and the Bajoran religious crap in the middle season, you'll be very well rewarded in the end, when it gets into the Dominion War plot. Every day at RTL5, 18.00.
