Bare Bones Computer?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Bare Bones Computer?

I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to shop for a very bare-bones computer (no monitor) that ONLY includes the following..

Case
power supply
motherboard and processor
hard drive

Basically I can strip the rest of my components that are up to date but would like a motherboard that can handle a faster processor.

Would it be easier to just buy the motherboard and processor and install it myself? (I have installed many things but not a motherboard or processor)

@Dredloch

Installing MB, Processor and RAM in a new case is REALLY easy, as long as you do your homework. Its also cheap, and you get exactly what you are looking for.

I'm not a electronics whiz at all, but I just built my first computer a couple of weeks ago. The process was really simple, and the only hang-up I had was little things like connecting front-side USB. Now I have a really rocking system, all black and top of the line!

So, if you're already going to add the cards and peripherals, do the whole thing, just take your time and research exactly what you are going to have to do.

Check out some of the "Build your own PC articles" on the web like this one at Tom's Hardware:

http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/20020904/index.html

BTW, how do I make this URL a hyperlink so that you can just click on it, and how do I make it so that you just click on blue text like "this one at Tom's Hardware" and you'd get sent there.

See told you I wasn't a whiz!

Chck the FAQ,

Yeah, do your homework then run all the way to Pricewatch, its the only way to go

I must agree with Zera..pricewatch is the only way to go. I built my system from pricewatch. Be careful though, some vendors have somewhat dubious customer relations. Check www.resellerratings.com to check up on a vendor you are thinking of buying from. They give reliable ratings for hundreds of pricewatch vendors.

I came. I saw. I conquered. And sometimes get conquered.
