Riddle me this...

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Riddle me this...

Here are some riddles for you guys to wrap your brains around.

1. What is greater than God,
More evil than the Devil,
The rich need it,
The poor have it,
And if you eat it you'll die?

2. You are standing in a cube shaped room, completely made of stone, sitting in the middle of a large desert. The room has no windows, doors, or openings to the outside at all, and the floor is completely made of stone also. All that is in the room is one wooden chair. How do you escape?

3. A man is found in the middle of the desert, dead, naked, and holding half a toothpick. How did he die?

4. I am the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space, the beginning of every end, and the end of every place. What am I?

5. I never was, am always to be,
No one ever saw me, nor ever will,
And yet I am the confidence of all,
To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball.

6. How far can a dog run in a forest?

7. If someone is found crying in the rain, will anyone really notice?

The last one I made up myself, so I don't know how well it will work as a riddle yet. If I think of any more I'll post them.

BTW, some of you may have heard of the riddles mentioned. If you have, you can either post the answer or leave it to the people who haven't heard them to guess. I'll come by later and post the answers if no one has got them yet.

Feel free to post your own riddles or have fun guessing!

19. Light ?
20. Yep, Deth was right. She takes a picture, developps it and hangs on the wall.
21. The king of showels! No, not really. Almost scisors...
22. At first I thought of a lobster, but indeed, like Deth said, it's coal.

The answers:

16. The original word is Startling. Going down: Startling - Starting - Staring - String - Sting - Sing - Sin - In - I.

17. Here is the whole sequence:

o t t f f s s e n t.

They represent the first letters of the words one through ten.

18. 5+5+5=550

The answer was to draw a line through the first plus sign, making it a 4. 545+5=550 (Dethstryke is still right though - it can be either).

19. I soar without wings, I see without eyes,
I've travelled the universe to and fro,
I've conquered the world, yet I've never been
Anywhere but home.
Who am I?

I am your imagination

20. Yep, the woman is a photographer.

21. I am the ruler of shovels
I have a double
I am as thin as a knife
I have a wife
What am I?

I am the King of Spades (from a deck of cards).

22. Yep, charcoal.

More? Yes?

Oh, yes, please, uncle Barakmar!

Oldie-Riddle:
A man looks at a portrait hung on the wall. When someone asks him about the man on the portrait, he replies: "I grew alone in the family BUT the father of the man on the portrait is my father's son (yes, he said "SON"." Who is the man on the portrait?

Ok, this will probably be the last one, unless I get an overwhelming flock of 'please please please'

23. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

24. What force and strength cannot get through, I with a gentle touch can do.
And many in the street would stand, were I not a friend at hand.
What am I?

25. I can sizzle like bacon,
I am made with an egg,
I have plenty of backbone, but lack a good leg,
I peel layers like onions, but still remain whole,
I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in a hole,
What am I?

26. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching!

27. Many things can create one. It can be of any shape or size. It is created for various reasons, and it can shrink or grow with time. What is it?

28. There is a barrel with no lid and some wine in it. "This barrel of wine is more than half full," said Curly. "No it's not," says Mo. "It's less than half full."
Without any measuring implements and without removing any wine from the barrel, how can they easily determine who is correct?

29. You are on an island in the middle of a lake. The lake is in a remote part of the country and there has never been a bridge connecting the island to the mainland.

Every day a tractor and wagon gives hay rides around the island. Puzzled as to how the tractor had gotten onto the island, you ask around and find out that the tractor was not transported to the island by boat or by air. Nor was it built on the island.

Can you explain how the tractor got there?

30. Hi! Ma and Pa told me I'd better say that all the two-letter words in this paragraph have something in common ...... or else! What's the common factor here?

Hope to get yer brain pumping

I really suck at riddle, but i'll take a guess at 24 and say a pedestrian crossing or traffic lights.

Post Fri Jan 31, 2003 4:12 pm

23. Deth answered that
24.Cannot really get the 2nd part. My guess is either Love or Electricity.
25. Scrambled Egg
26. This paragraph is unusual because it has no goal.
27. Will skip that one.
28.Will skip that one. Actually you said 'a bit' of wine. A bit is a very small quantity so it's less than half. I am sure I am wrong, though.
29. As you said, it's a remote part of the country . Means there are a couple of rednecks nearby .
30. The common factor is... they are all 2 lettered words!

The answers:

23. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

A: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

24. What force and strength cannot get through, I with a gentle touch can do.
And many in the street would stand, were I not a friend at hand.
What am I?

A: A key.

25. I can sizzle like bacon,
I am made with an egg,
I have plenty of backbone, but lack a good leg,
I peel layers like onions, but still remain whole,
I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in a hole,
What am I?

A: A snake.

A: The letter 'e', the most common in the English language, does not appear once in the long paragraph.

27. Many things can create one. It can be of any shape or size. It is created for various reasons, and it can shrink or grow with time. What is it?

A: A hole.

28. There is a barrel with no lid and some wine in it. "This barrel of wine is more than half full," said Curly. "No it's not," says Mo. "It's less than half full."
Without any measuring implements and without removing any wine from the barrel, how can they easily determine who is correct?

A: Tilt the barrel until the wine barely touches the lip of the barrel. If the bottom of the barrel is visible then it is less than half full. If the barrel bottom is still completely covered by the wine, then it is more than half full.

A: The tractor was driven over in winter when the lake was frozen.

30. Hi! Ma and Pa told me I'd better say that all the two-letter words in this paragraph have something in common ...... or else! What's the common factor here?

A: All the two-letter combinations are abbreviations of U.S. states: Hi:Hiwaii, Ma:Massachusetts, Paennsylvania, Me:Maine, In:Indiana, I'd:Idaho, Or:Oregon.

Well, I guess that's it from me unless I hear some people pleading for more. I hope this kept you somewhat entertained during the Freelancer wait
