Live from Esquilaxistan...

It has come to Our Royal attention that some of the people on this forum are skeptical of rabbits as friends and companions, or perhaps, have not purchased a rabbit companion due to concerns about the cost of food, vaccinations, veterinary bills, etc. I am here to tell you however, that you need worry no longer! In a glorious fusion of form and function (and Wi-Fi), the latest rabbit-related craze is now available outside Esquilaxistan!

To combat Tawakalnic propaganda and further encourage the people of Tawakalnistan to work with their new rabbit allies, a contest was held at Esquilaxistan's leading University to design a mascot for the newly emancipated nation. The winner was this little fellow;

The robotic rabbit. Yes, you too can now own a genuine Esquilaxistani robotic rabbit of your own. Due to popular demand, Esquilaxistani officials arranged to outsource the basic design to a French company (no dodgy countries here), and a new and improved robotic rabbit can now be purchased wherever you are in the world. While I could regale you with the myriad benefits of owning such a rabbit, I will let the website speak for itself Nabaztag.

I hope that by "adopting a rabbit", you can all come to a greater appreciation of rabbits, their contributions to society and of the mighty nations of Esquilaxitavia and Esquilaxistan. All hail the Rabbit-King!

PS. This is my first thread in many, many months and hopefully threads get better with age... Hmm, Taw's threads don't seem to get any better though, quite the opposite it seems. After all, a thread about a pink teapot? Bah!

what a piece of utter and complete bilge! pure tripe! a waste of good dinars, if you ask me, which you didn't. it's bad enough having real rabbits without these robotic cylon ersatz rabbits infiltrating our homes. what's it do, follow you around saying things like "i wuv u" dreadful. Yet another example of rabbit-inspired brainwashing of the masses. do NOT buy this item! it's prob toatlly insecure, i bet a child of 5 could hack it.

I'm going to issue an immediate fatwah banning this item, so there.

That'd be right, label an IP-enabled device a "hacker's dream" without even reading up on the specs! I have it on good authority that the RR (Robotic Rabbit) uses WEP and includes a hardware firewall. Besides, what is there to hack? Weather and news reports? As for its function, the website says it all. Not only does it provide companionship to the poor and lonely people that, no doubt, frequent this forum (), it also provides up-to-date and relevant news broadcasts from Esquilaxistan (or local news if you prefer the traditional (see banal) media). It is also asthetically-pleasing, can entertain for hours and is a bargain. What more could you ask for? In any case, it will sell far better than your "Tawakalna Dolls". If I recall correctly, you only sound 30 units out of about 60,000, and that took a year!

I don't know esq, it does look a little psychotic. It looks like the kind of thing you'd come home to find porking the missus, drowing the children in the tub or making massive online investments into a Zimbabwean white-only farming concern with your life savings. I think i'll stick to the regular channels for my music and news services.

I'm with Mustang on this one... last thing you need is your robotic pet rabbit getting depressed from you ignoring it and having it go on a Monty-Python style killer rampage.

I'd also call attention to the product's main slogan:

"Nabaztag: The first smart rabbit"

Apparently Esky's mental functions leave something to be desired...

Musty - Come on! Look at the cute little guy! Could you really see him leaping into a bath full of water to slay his owners, or deliberately combusting thus leading to massive fire (and presumably water) damage? You judge him too harshly. Besides, he's a work of art and is kitsch, and that is very "in" these days. Just ask the Insurance Man or the Plasticine Dog; they know art when they see it. Well, the Dog probably does, but the Insurance Man considers the use of "buzz-words" to be an art, so his opinion is suspect *shakes head*.

Dawg - Oh, of course! If something is displayed on a website it MUST be true! *Rolls eyes* Although I could shred you with pointed repartee, I'll spare you... this time. In any case I'm not really a rabbit, I'm a (technically THE) Esquilax. There is a world of difference, and the rabbit analogies are only for your convenience human.

That's not a rabbit anyway.

Quite right, Indy... its a 'Nabaztag'.... This... thing looks to me quite like the game that infested the Enterprise in some old episode of ST: TNG, where Wesley Crusher and his girlfriend had to save the world...

@Esky- You criticize me for taking anything on a website to be true? You yourself believe that this little robo-rabbit is real, just from looking at a website (unless of course, you really own one). Still, if you are the first *ahem*, sorry, only Esquilax, where did you come from? Not that I'm a proponent of evolutionary thought here, but doesn't this raise the question:

Which came first? The Esquilax or the Nabaztag?

Post Thu Jan 11, 2007 9:58 pm

I never said that the "Nabaztag" was real, I simply stated that Esquilaxistani officials outsourced production to a French company, and provided a link to their website. Are you denying that they exist? Buy one and find I out I say!

As for the nature of my existence, one must travel back in time to the days of the Ancient Greeks and the rise of Rome... Unfortunately we cannot travel there at this time, as my associate Mr. Peabody is still on holidays. Shame.

growing up in a italian house hold i learned that are a good sourse of protien and taste like chicken qoute"the lte joe s go ahead rich eat it it tastes just like chicken"

Esky, you seem a little put off that I am "denying that the Nabaztag is real" (which I'm not... I have no doubt you'd pull an egotistical scheme such as this to create a world-wide rabbit loving cult...). I find this a little odd, when you admit that you "never said that the Nabaztag was real" yourself.

Taw was quite right... this is a waste of perfectly good dinars. You're paying some off-brand in France to produce an eared R2-D2 clone (without consulting George Lucas, no less!) that might not even exist! They could just have a false website up and be using your funds to relax at some distant Indycorp resort.

it should be noted that the one and only reference to the esquilurx in modern culture, vis the Simpsons, albeit claiming that an esquilurx was half-hare, half-horse, showed no horsey characteristics whatsoever, and was apparently all-hare. Thus this particular chimaera remains completely fictitious.

recently i learnt that scientists, not content with making evil talking robotic rabiits, plan to make further chimaeras by implanting rabbit ova with human cells. Is there no end to the evil of rabbitdom?

Post Fri Jan 12, 2007 7:58 pm

Dawg - So you are saying that they are real? Good, we are making progress .

Taw - Hey, those experiment are being conducted in Switzerland, not Esquilaxitavia. You have no proof that we are involved!

That thing looks quite awful
