Post your NEW desk top image

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

TET, you underestimate the powers of the double-taskbar

Post Sat Jan 06, 2007 4:14 am

Behold its cumbersome and unslightly screen-clogging ability?

Post Sat Jan 06, 2007 7:32 pm

Hmm...Double taskbar...takes up a mere 7 milimeters of extra space that I absolutely need and My viewing size of anything will be largely diminished <_<

Post Sun Jan 07, 2007 3:55 am

On my teeney-weeney monitor it takes up an extra 18 square centimetres of space.

You know, we still need a shot from the rabbits machine posted here, hmmm?

I doubt very much whether he'd dare, FD, in fear of the immediate and intense mockery his Windows 2.0 based 286 will induce We'd all realise that his 12" EGA monitor is only capable of 16-color 640x350 resolution, despite his recent upgrade to a Trident ISA 64kb graphics card! There's a good reason why the Wascally Wabbit only plays retro games, y'know....

Post Sun Jan 07, 2007 2:55 pm

Trident and ISA? Bah! I'll have you know, Mullah my lad, that I was using a PCI S3 Virge DX35 with 8MB of RAM! Ah yes, truly a functional card. And then there was a Riva TNT2 after that and more to follow. Those were the days... Anyway, back on topic.

I do not think that my desktop image has changed much from the last time I posted it, however I will consider it. For the present however, please enjoy a desktop image of my PC at work. *Shakes head* All of those tray icons... bleh. Damn Netware, SSL tunnels and such *grumble*

work desktops are cheating. besides, if i was your system administrator I wouldn't let you have either the XP style menu or a custom desktop background. what's wrong with grey Windows classic, the style my group policy forces everyone to have? looks just like W2000, and that's the way I like it!

you've only posted your work desktop because you're ashamed of your home one, aren't you? is {iTyphon broken again?

Post Sun Jan 07, 2007 4:01 pm

Why don't I have the "Windows Classic" theme? That's simple. You see boy, I have "Administrator" rights on my work PC. Did I do anything under-handed to acquire such access? No, when the IT guys configured the computer they gave me full access because they know that *I* know what I am doing, despite evil Tawakalnist propaganda to the contrary.

As for my home PC desktop, I'll get around to it, but I am feeling lazy. It has been bloody hot here for the last four or five days (32C-36C), and the temperature only dropped to around 25C at night which made sleeping difficult. Besides, I don't have any games to play at the moment, and therefore Typhon has been taking it easy for the last few days. After all, what's the point of playing BFME2:ROTWK and other games when you have to sacrifice graphical quality for framerates? When I upgrade, all will be well. The only problem is, should I wait for Intel's "Robson", etc? Will the benefits be worth it? Probably not, but I have time. After all, the R600 doesn't come out until January 22 at the earliest, and the reviews won't be around for another two weeks or so (that "Level505" review is dodgy if you ask me).

Right, well, I should probably stop typing before I start to ramble.

i hope that they only gave you local admins and not domain admins I must have a word in the shell-like of your IT dept, doshing out admin rights to all and sundry, including chimaeras. <sniff> wouldn't happen on my watch!

Post Sun Jan 07, 2007 4:39 pm

You two are a hoot.

Esq, you got that image seperately? Its nice.

Post Sun Jan 07, 2007 5:05 pm

Taw - No, I just have local Admin rights. Anything more would be superfluous, and ITS wouldn't give me those rights anyway (only a few people have them in the entire University as I understand it, as it should be ).

Final - Thanks. It's an image from good old "Digital Blasphemy" (.com). I'm thinking of moving to something more esoteric... like fractals. Like this or this. Funky.

Why am I not surprised? Then again I suppose you baby your users so proficiently as to render them so fantastically inept that they would have a cranial seizure at the sight of slightly different interface from what they have been using for the last 10 years.

you been spying on me again? dam straight, I don't let them do anything or change anything, and that's the way it ought to be. All they can do is work, work, work - no silly desktop wallpapers, no screenmates, no IM, no unauthorised browsing, no toolbars, only clean simple uncluttered intefaces with the bare minimum of necessary applications and utilities. And that's why i keep problems to a minimum and everything works, no local admins! And we're not going to Vista either!

Wabbit - you really like those pictures? what's going on in that mixed-up bunny brain of yours? the first one made me feel quite ill....
