"Borat" is an Ali G (Sasha Baron Cohen) character, a fictitious half-educated tv journalist from Kazakhstan, who's sexist and anti-semitic opinions, support for blood sports, and all manner of inappropriate attitudes and behaviour is used as a foil for eking out some equally vile opinions held by the real people he's purportedly interviewing.

Borat's a bit old hat now, v funny to start with but same old, same old.

The previews looked good for this. However, I'm surprised that the film's creators didn't invent another "stan" country for him to be from instead of using a real one. Most of the time, they create those places to minimize risk of offending someone.

you're suggesting that "stan" countries are invented? Never!

No, I'm suggesting that some "stan" countries are invented by powerful egomaniacs who are bent on monopolizing control of the people (whether it be moviegoers or poor helpless degraded downtrodden and abused citizens) for their own personal and financial gain. But of course, no one here, and certainly not a moderator would do that!
