This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

For all you Star Wars fans out there, good news. According to information reported by The Digital Bits, the original, pre-special edition, versions of the Classic Trilogy will be coming to DVD in September for a limited time only. They will stop printing it at the end of the year. It's about damn time. I love the versions I've got because I'm a Star Wars nerd, but this is incredible news.

ya - believe it or not the last digital transfers were to Laserdisc hahaha, ahh thats lame. are they imitating disney's "vault" or what?its a stupid ploy and i ain't buying - i'll probably find the DVDs at a yard sale in a few years

This is no joke, dude. Everyone's reporting it. Dark Horizons, DVD Active, everybody. When it comes to Star Wars, they wouldn't report it if it wasn't true. If Lucasfilm announced this on April 1st, then yeah, I'd be skeptical too. But it's May, there's no reason for them to lie. This is a major money-making opportunity for these guys. Although, I wish they would have done this when they first released the Classic Trilogy on DVD in '04. The timing is kind of strange, I admit.

Whats the point???

I doubt you'll understand, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. There are a hell of a lot of people out there who don't like the newest versions of the Classic Trilogy, with all the new visuals and all. They prefer the original versions. This release is "supposedly" for the fans who have wanted to see the original theatrical releases on DVD. Apparently SOMEONE was listening and it wasn't George. I'll be picking it up, because I'm a big fan of Star Wars. Each movie is going to get a two disc treatment. The original theatrical release on one disc and the 2004 version on the other. Unfortunately the original version is NOT going to have 5.1 surround sound, but rather, the dolby digital 2.0. Can't have everything I guess. I think they should have done this a lot sooner. But I'm glad it's happening now instead of never.

my point is that its Disney marketing to say 'there will be no more available #/#/06', obviously they want to sell some more copies by generating extra buzz and cash in on the demands for pristine digital copies that prior to this announcement were only satisfied by illegal laserdisc rips on the internet

Keep on Trekkin'

meezookeewee- i get it, not bad might be interested depending on the price.

Cold-I agree. If this new set's going to generate the money that I think it will, then I think that it may not have such a limited release. That part is definitely a marketing gimmick.

it could be a leadup for when the movies are back in the theaters in 2007. Lucus is rereleaseing them in a 3D format so he can force the theaters to use his equipment ( his words not mine, taken from an interview in a recent cinafex magazine)

Blessed Be to all those that still dream of the flight to the stars.
