Star Wars Or Star Trek

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

comparing Star Wars and Star Trek is comparing magic to technology.

Star Wars has imagination, hope, and a timeless wonder.

Star Trek has ideals, morals, and a vision of a amazing future for mankind.

I deeply love both series, They are not the best out there, nor are they well done. They do have the wonder that has made them the icons that they are. They will continue for many more decades after many other sci-fi universes are forgotten.

Blessed Be to all those that still dream of the flight to the stars.

God, I'm surrounded by Sci-Fi nerds here.

haha! made me laugh

Star Wars - never given the "trek" a go, it used to send me to sleep - but as a kid Starwars really got my imagination running riot

Trying to compare a movie to a tv series is pretty impossible - you should only compare films to films imo, and tv series to tv series.

Star wars for me.

I do enjoy star trek. Theres some good, even great episodes and some really crappy ones. Sometimes it's just too cheesy Espesially the first few times we saw Q in TNG. Weird costumes for no real reason. It's also predictable. Most episodes run something like this:

You can almost set your watch by it:
First quarter: Encounter problem. Dont realise until it's a problem.
Second quarter: Discover problem. Spend time trying to work out whats going on
Third quarter: Almost get destroyed by [whatever
Fourth quater: Find a simple solution that they somehow they diddnt think to do.

Also, things they do in some episodes to get around problems are not ever used again even if they would be useful. E.g. teleporting through shields.

These are my main gripes with TNG (The only series i've really watched enough to comment on)
-Cliches like warf being the only klingon in starfleet.. then used again for data being the only android... anywhere.
-Whenever they get sent back to the past/trapped in the holodeck it's always some point in the 20th centuary
-It's basically fantasy creatures in space. Vulcans are elves, Klingons are orcs, romulans are dark elves, etc.
-Besides aliens they encounter on a per episode basis, all aliens are humanoid.

Though I do enjoy star trek. Because it's a series it has a chance to develop the characters a lot more than a movie (Even a set of movies) ever could.

Bad acting? For the most part, star trek has better acting than star wars. (Especially the prequal trilogy). Patrick Stewart is a great actor.

To be honest I'd rate it like this: Original star wars trilogy > Star Trek > Star wars prequal trilogy.

Wow, that was a longer post than I intended to make.

Has any-one ever watched the double episodes or featurelengths, there not that bad, Verygood story line with a little more money being spent.

I agree w/ atredies on this one.

I really like both Star Wars and Star Trek, but I'll have to say Trek 'cause SW was ruined by Episodes I, II, and III.

Although in retrospect ST was hurt badly by Generations and Nemesis...

But Stargate SG1 is the best...new scifi.

best new sci fi is the new battlestar galactica, mind you, i quite like enterprise.

Nemesis weren't that bad.....at least it had a good scrap in it,bit like ST II TWOK

Star Trek is better. I found starwars to be very slow and boring. Then again, StarTrek is also boring as hell... B5 4 Life!!!!...
