Star wars for me.
I do enjoy star trek. Theres some good, even great episodes and some really crappy ones. Sometimes it's just too cheesy Espesially the first few times we saw Q in TNG. Weird costumes for no real reason. It's also predictable. Most episodes run something like this:
You can almost set your watch by it:
First quarter: Encounter problem. Dont realise until it's a problem.
Second quarter: Discover problem. Spend time trying to work out whats going on
Third quarter: Almost get destroyed by [whatever
Fourth quater: Find a simple solution that they somehow they diddnt think to do.
Also, things they do in some episodes to get around problems are not ever used again even if they would be useful. E.g. teleporting through shields.
These are my main gripes with TNG (The only series i've really watched enough to comment on)
-Cliches like warf being the only klingon in starfleet.. then used again for data being the only android... anywhere.
-Whenever they get sent back to the past/trapped in the holodeck it's always some point in the 20th centuary
-It's basically fantasy creatures in space. Vulcans are elves, Klingons are orcs, romulans are dark elves, etc.
-Besides aliens they encounter on a per episode basis, all aliens are humanoid.
Though I do enjoy star trek. Because it's a series it has a chance to develop the characters a lot more than a movie (Even a set of movies) ever could.
Bad acting? For the most part, star trek has better acting than star wars. (Especially the prequal trilogy). Patrick Stewart is a great actor.
To be honest I'd rate it like this: Original star wars trilogy > Star Trek > Star wars prequal trilogy.
Wow, that was a longer post than I intended to make.
