Gizoogled TLR front page
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I'm with Chips on this one.
Talk about a load of fuss over nothing. I didn't find it funny, but I didn't find it offensive either. Good grief, its just a webpage translator, there's nothing new about it. If you're offended by something so basic maybe you shouldn't be using the internet - there's a lot worse out there.

But it IS a double standard. Has been for a long time. It is similar, at least over hear, to many other derogatory names for races and ethnic groups in which if the term is used by a member of that particular race or group it is OK but NOT when used by a non-member.
I don't know if there is a word for what I am describing but there it is.

I'll third Chips. Not exactly funny but nothing to get your knickers in a twist over.
This is going to be contentious but I find it strange how it's not just a case of it's only okay for the respective ethnic group to use their own slur in mockery. If you're of big enough a racial group it's absolutely fine to be insulted. Honky and cracker get bandied around like it's no big deal but you utter the "n" word in jest and it's blown out of proportion. You'll see black stand-up comedians ridiculing whites but not vice-versa, it doesn't really bother me but I find it ridiculous when we come across a website that only uses the n-word in jest and everyone recoils in horror. I don't think that the word even applies as an insult to anyone who has replied on this thread so far, yet there's a whole bunch of you crying out that it's insulting. Once again context is the main issue, this is (weak) humour aimed at ridiculing the bling-bling rap culture stereotype, not at insulting black people!

It's a double standard, that I wish the actors/comics would address and do a dressing down of those that use any of them. Honky and cracker hasn't been used since the 60's and early 70's and is the older generations words.
indy I'm shocked :O
*looks at indy suspiciously...are you sure you're indy?
Anyways, more on topic, a question, if this was supposed to be funny why is it not in the Comical thread?
AS to my opnion, I really do not find it funny, I do not see humour in tranzlating into mostly swearing and offensive words(coming from a country like mine, the N word is defenitely seen as offensive in any context.
Is it degrading to the site? Well, as the tool was not created specifically for TLR, no, but then again as I have respect for the site I would never consider using a tool translating it like this spesific one does.
Would I find it offensive it the site was turned to l337, not, first of all 1eet is about or rahter originated on the internet and is so to speak an internet language, second of all, I'm offended by swearing, especially the useless kind in a failed attempt to create humour.
I guess everyone can feel whatever they want, but this is basically how I see it

Hey guys, just wondering if you guys had heard of Gizoogle. It's pretty weird, take a look at the Gizoogled TLR front page. *WARNING: CONTAINS SOME SWEARING*
For some reason, you all seem to think I put this up to make a joke. This was to show a weird translator floating around on the web. And to illustrate my point that it is weird, I used the TLR front page as an example because people look at it every day and could see for themselves. Not once did I say that I found it funny or that I expected anyone else to yet you people are implying I'm some sort of low brow freak who's into this kinda stuff.
I was hoping we'd get a few laughs from its sheer stupidity, maybe someone would know of a couple other weird translators floating around on the web and we'd make some sort of list, I dunno. But no, people are shocked and completely offended, this is a totally serious matter and I'm the evil monster who showed this. Take it easy, be rational and reasonable. Don't get all upset over text which doesn't totally physically exist. No one's being racist though some of the senior members here would love to take a dig at me. I've been treated like an inferior from the moment I made my first post here by a lot of the senior "elite" members and I've only persisted because of some of the really great people here.
Cut it out guys, don't make such a fuss over nothing. I bet if someone really senior had done something like this, there would be much joking and fun made of it, maybe a little scandel but nothing too big.

I totally agree with BF and I think the man deserves an apology here.
There are dozens of these sorts of translators on the web, they've been around for years. When I first read this thread I was expecting to see "klingon", "engwish", "elvish" and "barney" web page translators...but instead I saw a lot of fuss over absolutely nothing. The perfect example of people taking something *and* themselves too seriously.
Something else I almost commented on before but chose not to as I didn't want to get accused of starting an argument for no reason.
@BF - I apologise if you feel you have been treated as an "inferior" by more longer-term members. I don't ever remember speaking to you before, but if I ever made you feel that way I apologise wholeheartedly. As with every forum, there are are always going to be longer term members who feel as if they have a right to lay into newer members because they somehow surfed here before them....however at TLR I have found them to be in a minority. If it ever happens again I would suggest you contact a mod and make your concerns known. Stick around, please, we always like new members here in OT.

bah, Balfy's been here as long as I can remember on TLR!
Sometimes things backfire on forums and the internet in general, you can end up catching people on their "serious days", don't take it to heart!
I was reading a thread on IMDB today. Some guy mentioned he was joining the marines, lots of people said, congrats and good luck, the attitude was good and a guy cracked a joke that he was joining the equally tough McDonalds Corporation. A little later some guy pipes up and whines about how this guy has no idea about the military and the whole thread devolves into complaining. It just... happens on the internet.
