Rise of Nations, Rome: Total War, and any of the Civilization series.

Rise of Nations
Civilisation III
Rome: Total War... well part of the world
Supreme Commander (when it comes out)

All of these I know to be excellent, except Supreme Commander which I can only presume to be excellent.

I played Rize of Nations, and I got Rome: Total War, neither of em have what i am talking about. Never checked Civilization or Supreme Commander..so those might have what I am looking for...I get back to ya once trials are downloaded

anyhow, what I mean is that its a "today’s" day world. You build up your nation, and attack all those around it. You also have control over economy, military etc. I am just in a need of an very challenging and interesting strategy game, I played some kind of demo about world conquest a few years ago. Name forgotten, but i do know that even tho graphics sucked major time...game play was interesting..so I am just hopping that someone might know of a new age game (better graphics) with a similar game play

You might not get along with Civilisation then, it's a similar concept to Rise of Nations, passing through the ages and stuff.

Hmm. Oh, just be happy with Rome, it's a perfectly awesome game.

well there is master of orion, that sounds like what you are looking for but it is a space game, so I dont think it counts as "today's" type world lol.

Civ II was my favourite. That thing had me hooked for months.

lol, I heard of Civ, but never really went and played it...at one time was about to get it, but went for AOE..looked better ^^

Well, I am d/l Master of Orion III, it seems to be interesting. As atreides mentioned..its not like world game I talked about, but it seems like an very interesting strategy game none the less. Hehe as for Populous..deffinetly needs a graphics buff

earlier today I went for the good ol' original world conquest strategy game..RISK!!

Well I d/l Risk II trial, didnt check it out yet...gonna go for MOO first

EDIT: tried Risk II.....no comment, lets say it did not stay on my hard drive for too long

the game spore is a very interesting concept, its the literal verse of the word "Godgame"

hmm, aint Black and White something similar to that? I dont know if its strategy? RPG maybe? but the fact u can just kill em all is too good to miss, I will proly be getting that ^^

also, the Masters of Orion is interesting! TOTAL CONTROL! But....damn it..my 60min trial is done (
