This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Well the day we (or at least I) have been waiting for has come, the Age of Empires III trial version is now out there for download. I've only been able to spend an hour or two with it so far, so I'm withholding judgment on this for a few days, but it looks very good.
This has been on Fileplanet for quite some time.
But yeah, I agree, I played it a while ago and it looks very good. It's certainly influenced by RoN and all the better for it.
Oh and havoc physics in an RTS? Hell yeah!
You may also want to check this out. Scroll down until you see a talk on the AoE graphics engine. You'll need to register for free, though. And you get access to all the other talks. Pretty good, actually.

I apologize for my tardiness in this announcement. I figured that when a game with this much hype got a demo it'd be announced here with no delay. Apparently I was wrong. Once I get some more time to play I'll have to figure out how this whole 'home city' thing works. Shame my system isn't up to spec to be able to run the graphics all out for this.
AoE III -demo is quite fun to play. The game has impressive AI: in Skirmish games you will have troubles from "moderate" on . I never dared to play on hard or expert until now
The Homecity-concept is (imo) interesting: with higher experience you can mix your own set of cards - you can influence your tactics then more on builing up your base or more on military skills and equipment.
The demo is limited to two missions of the campaign, two skirmish maps and level-9-experience. But there is already a little program which eliminates the level-limit.
If someone is interested i can post the link. As it is not a crack i think this should be no problem

If there's one thing I could bring over from this game to the older versions, it'd be the artillery. Somehow watching field guns plowing over settlers is most entertaining. Otherwise, I'm honestly not too impressed with the gameplay so far, but I guess that's something I'll have to grow into with the full version, which I'm sure I'll buy whether I like it or not.
