Windows "Longhorn" virus already?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Windows "Longhorn" virus already?

Oh dear, its almost funny.......
Windows Vista Tool targeted by virus

Excellent.

Poor old Windows.

They try, they really do.

Unfortunately, people are always going to try to hack the most popular O/S.

This has occured so early that it's tempting to wonder if Microsoft could just throw out all this code and start completely from scratch, with an alternative to DOS.

Or something.

...and I'm just going to be laughing my arse off at whoever gets the new Wind-blows OS...

There is NO way im EVER buying Long-horn.

Don't let the mac users win. Windows doesn't suck, as long as we stop tearing it down. You'll all buy Vista when the coolest games are only released for it, you know it as much as I do. If more people realized that with a little know-how Windows can outdo even the fastest Macs or other computers, we wouldn't have all of this. But some people find it easier to tear stuff down than to build stuff up.

Back on topic, don't act like this was a shock. There will be more.

I'm waiting for it. I have gotten all the other version at the mid night sales when they came out.

Screw the new windows screw mac twice as much. I will go Linux all the way unless MS makes a lite version of Longhorn. They dont need to pack it with their crap to horribly unoptimize it. I go for performance and not for MS's horrific effeciency.

Interesting to see that Microsoft's latest piece of Swiss cheese has holes whilst it is still milk. (No offense to the Swiss). I must agree that like good little brainwashed consumers we'll all go out and grudgingly purchase Longhorn sooner or later, when wea re forced to. However, for me XP is buggy enough, I don't want to add to the mix. I prefer to 'optimize' my system with legitimate software, such as Firefox. Let's face it. Microsoft's insecurity measures are about as effective at stopping hackers as the TSA is at protecting our airlines...

Post Fri Aug 05, 2005 8:24 pm

That's strange you talk about the issues with Windows
but say legitimate software, such as Firefox...
but forget to mention the release notes for the various FireFox releases, as of today there have been 43 security issues of various severities fixed since the 1.0 version of FireFox was released last November.

I'm not saying anything, just an observation...

I find that my Windows XP is solid as a rock, and I haven't even had spyware, let alone hackers/viruses infect my system! People NEED to keep up to date with the security fixes. As firefox also has had alot of security fixes, people shouldn't really be moaning about the constant updates as if its a windows only issue. Its painless to update, and its free. Since Firefox is a browser though, it has had far more than IE (afaik - because most of IE's holes have been plugged!).

I just find it a shame that hackers have the beta's and are probing for vulnerabilities to be used against it when released. Is it MS's fault, or is it the hackers whom intentionally try to bring it down? Its safe to say that every piece of software has vulnerabilities, its just that everyone hates MS for whatever reason.

Just remember, the most vulnerable thing about any system is the user....

But see, Chips, this is the great thing about Macs: They are computers for stupid people.
Completely incompetent, virtually computer-illiterate people such as myself who have no bloody idea how to protect their machines.

By the polls, by the way, more mathematicians and engineers seem to prefer windows, while writers and artists lean towards apple. Interesting difference.

apple is perfect for graphics, much better than a normal pc...or thats what my friends who are in e.g the advertising bussinees tells me.
Not sure exactly why that is, but yea.

The reason alot of " writers and artists" lean toward Mac is cause alot of them lean the same way as you do wilde. and they like taht mac comes in lots of bright rainbow colors.

I bow to the well voiced points of Chips and bp.
