Runescape (For the second time)

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Runescape (For the second time)

Well, I'm not sure if I got around to anyone last time I put a topic like this up. So I will try to show more people the glory of Runescape.

Here is a link to the game site. If that doesnt work then the web address is runescape.com
But please read this first.

As I have said before, Runescape is a 3D, Browser based, MMO with some RPG elements. You will always be leveling up your character so you can mine a certian ore, smith certian bars, wield certian wepons or wear certian armor. Basically, anyone with the right Java plug-in, a good internet connection and a computer can play this game. It is free to play, but for just five dollars a month, you can become a Member. As a member, you are entitled to new skills, almost three times the area of a free player, new weapons and armors, and thousands more items. If you are a free player, there are close to fifty quests to complete, but you have almost two hundred if you are a member. The world of Runescape is always being updated, but most of the updates are on member's servers, they do occasionally do something for the free players.

When you sign up, you pick a username, which is who other players will see you as in the game, (And there are hundreds of thousands of players). You will also be required to choose a password, but be carefull.

Avoid common hacks and scams.

Don't make it something that other people will be able to guess easly. Just by adding two numbers to the end of your password makes another ten thousand possabilities it could be. Needless to say, do not say your pass word in the game. Because there is a chat sencor, that I kind of hate, does not mean you can say your password freely. Runescape DOES NOT block your pass word. If you are near someone who says that their pass word is ****** (astricts are what the chat filter uses to replace obscene words and phrases) then he typed those astricts intentionally. He is just trying to get you to say your password so he can steal your account. There is a very simple way to prevent this kind of hack, DON'T SAY YOUR PASSWORD!

Be carefull about visiting fan sites or other forums.

Some fansites are just rigged with keyloggers. Keyloggers are what some people use to hack your account. I recomend only using two fansites, each has forums, quest guide, skill guides, and other stuff. Runevillage.com and runehq.com. In my opinion, those are the two safest sites. By the way, 95% of the time, antivirus software WILL NOT get rid of keyloggers. The only way is to reformat your hard drive, so be carefull.

When you first start playing the game, you will be taken to Tutorial Island. That is where you learn most of the basics of Runescape, such as how to cook, wield weapons and kill.

As of right now, there are two versions of Runescape. Runescape 2 (Which is the 3D one I keep raving about) and Runescape Classic. RSclassic is the old version of runescape. It looks like it was made by a 10 year old on crack.

And just a friendly tip: when you get off tutorial island and can interact with other players, don't try to trade with everyone you see or keep asking for free stuff. That annoys most of the higher level people. And don't be put down by insults like "noob" or "babe", that is just something that the high levels do to to make themselvs feel better than you. And a lot of the high levels hate newbies for some reason, I don't know why.

I am currently at level 35 and am training my mining skill. If anyone has an old RS account that they never use anymore and don't mind letting me have it please Email the username and password to me.

Flyingbeef, Guess what. I just tried out Tibia, and it's ok when you have absoutly nothing to do. But it is easyer to play Runescape. And by the way, big deal if your a level 40, I'm almost at level 36 and you and I are still considered n00bs.

And now I present five reasons why Runescape is better than Tibia.

1) The Tibia is a bone in your arm, why they chose to name a game after a bone in your arm I still don't know.

2) Runescape is in 3D, Tibia looks like it was made by the same crack-adicted 10 year old that made the first Runescape.

3) Runescape is free to play, and no downloads of software are needed, where as with the crappy game called Tibia (WTF is up with the title?) you have to download the client software just to play a game with graphics that looked like they were ment for the Game Boy Color.

4) You can log into Runescape when you want to log in. Tibia I'm sure gives a lot of people an anyurism when you try to play. "You are at place 53 on the waiting list, trying to reconnect in 25 seconds. You are at place 52 on the waiting list, trying to reconnect in two minutes. You are still at place 52 on the waiting list, trying to reconnect in two minutes." Then after about five times of place 52 on the waiting list, you will move up to 51 and do the whole thing over.

5) When you try to use a shop or store, you have to greet the storekeeper by saying "Hi" or "Hello", then you don't get a menu or window like you do in RS, you have to hope the dude is selling what you want, then you have to say something like "Armor." Then the shopkeeper will ask you if you want to sell your armor, even if you're not wearing any. And I'm sure there are manuals for the words you need to shop effeciently, but they are probably fifteen to twenty pages long.

6) (Yeah I know I said there were only five but I have more complaining to do.) Some people **cough, buttheads, cough** will say "Hi" to a shop keeper and keep others waiting. They will keep saying the samething over and over to a shopkeeper and since the clerk can only deal with one customer at a time, those buttheads do this just to piss off the other players.

7) I'm sure if I wanted to spend more time playing Tibia I could find more stuff to complain about, but the interface sucks, the graphics totally blow, there are too many crapheads and your character is so slow, you could litteraly spend five minutes walking from the end of a village to the other.

So I urge you, those of you who have not tried Runescape yet, please try it.

the one thing good about tibia (i agree with you alot on most of that stuff exept that the wait isnt as bad as you say and the shopkeepers talking is actually realistic( though i know how noobs take up the npcs attention to annoy people but the fact is you were only on rookgaard, the newbie island and you have to get to lvl 8 to get off and off of it there are much fewer noobs (they all get tired of the game before lvl 8)))

as i was saying the one thing about tibia thats better that RS is that it is much more challenging, on RS they hold your hand the whole way and there is little risk of teft of being Pked and in tibia when you die you actually lose XP and items, RS is easy compare to tibia

but i have no problem with you staying with RS

about the RS noob thing, even level 70s can be complete noobs somtimes

Meh, Runescape is filled with beggars (plz giv m3 fr33 stuff!!!11), n00bish 13-year olds (i pwn u n00b!!!11) and other stupid people. No offense towards 13-year olds intended, though

I quitted RS due to reasons mentioned above, and also because of various ingame things that aren't really bugs but still annoying, the time it takes to travel from place A to place B for instance.

Yeah, I used to play RS back a few years ago, back when they only had the Classic version.

I liked it a lot for a while, but I gets real old really fast, and I got so sick of the point and click levelups and stuff. The game was too slow for my tastes, and it took up too much of my time anyways, so I quit. Plus, the game was filled with so many immature kids that scammed and stole stuff and were just plain annoying.

Besides, text-based RPGs own RS any day!
