Day of Defeat/Counter Strike
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

(Rockville, MD) October 22, 2004 -- Bethesda Softworks LLC, a ZeniMax Media company, today announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion™ is currently in development for PC and future generation consoles. In development since 2002, Oblivion is another leap forward in role-playing with its combination of freeform gameplay and cutting-edge graphics. Oblivion is the sequel to the best-selling, award-winning role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind®, named 2002 RPG and Game of the Year for both PC and Xbox.

Oblivion features a groundbreaking new AI system, called Radiant AI, which gives non-player characters (NPCs) the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. They'll decide where to eat or who to talk to and what they'll say. They'll sleep, go to church, and even steal items, all based on their individual characteristics. Full facial animations and lip-synching, combined with full speech for all dialog, allows NPCs to come to life like never before.

Hey! I'm currently hooked on CS and DoD too. That and the HL2 demo, which is sweet (waiting for the parents to cough up the credit cards). In fact I have some m8s coming over as I type this to play CS and DoD.
I believe it was Tycho from Penny Arcade who said that games these days focused too much on graphics and stuff like that than being fun. I mean, you could have the most realistic graphics engine in the world and if the game wasn't fun nobody would buy it. CS and DoD have stood the test of time, because of how well they work and how fun they are. I've often compared DoD to Battlefield: 1942, because the only difference in gameplay is graphics and tanks. The key difference is optimization, though. Battlefield runs like crap (last night I was gonna play BF on low gfx, but it was waay to laggy, so I played UT2k4 on high with no probs at all).
It's not about how new they are, or how realistic, it's about how fun it is to play.

I play CS 1.6, TS, CS:S and DoD with some regularity. I'm actually quite good at CS, to be perfectly honest, and have played with members of the CPL on occasion
CS:S has been a very frustrating experience for me, because it's a rather buggy, laggy experience compared to 1.6. I eventually got used to it and have re-mastered tweaking for performance, but I don't think that I'll be playing it with the same frequency as previous versions of the game- it's just not quite the same quality of playing experience- great graphical effects don't make up for the fact that it's a weaker game in most respects, and lacks the tightness of control response seen in the original game engine
