This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Field Trip

Tomorrow I get to miss all of school to go visit the engineering open house at the local University. Among exciting exhibits will be a Mass Driver, earthquake simulator, plasma experiments, a wind tunnel, etc. I will report my findings in a day or so.

Highlights were touring the wind tunnel and of course the mass driver. Their scaled down prototype can accelarate their magnesium slugs (about 6-8 inches long) to 2.7 km/sec in the space of about 100 ft (sorry for the mixed units). While it can't launch stuff into space (yet...) it does have other fun applications. They showed some pieces of military grade steel armor (about 1.5 inches or 4 cm) thick that had been blasted clean through. The wind tunnel tour was also entertaining. I asked the goide in charge if they had ever had accidents with debris in the tunnel, and they apparently had. At one point a piece of a model disloged and destroyed one of the fans (15 ft across.. thats maybe 4 meters or so) with an explosion large enough to be heard across the whole campus. Fun times.
