How did you pick your screen name?

My first name who those who remember was redstarpaddy. It was a combination of my political preferences and my nickname. Then, I moved on to Darkov, an original character name I thought up.

Now I've moved to Krazny Oktyabr or Red October for those who don't speak Russian. It refers to the October Revolution where in Russia, the "Reds" seized power over the Kerensky Provisional Government. Anyway, you also may remember the name from the book by Tom Clancy. It's also a very good book

Hmmm,

Argh.. bbs's eh?..... I remember the days of 14/4 modems and bbs and doom ..was it 1 or 2? .....so many years.... *shakes walking stick at the doubters* ...

Mine comes from the 'Original' Wing Commander, I wanted to play on-line and needed a nickname.. there was a picture of a Harrier jump jet on the wall... the rest is history.. mostly I get to keep it, but sometimes am forced to use DaxHarrier.. "Dax" comes from startrek.. (the long brunette ....yummy) ..

The name is apt tho 'cause it means many things:

1. One that harries.
2. Any of various slender, narrow-winged hawks of the genus Circus, such as the marsh hawk, that prey on small animals (and are represented by the Swamp Harrier in Australia)
3. Any of a breed of small hounds originally used in hunting hares and rabbits.
4. A cross-country runner. (hmmmm...

)
5. a persistent attacker
6. a really cool STOL interceptor ( the Harrier jump jet)

I found mine on a lollipop stick when I was 8. I think it was a strawberry mivvi. it cost me 6 pence and my cousin had a screwball for a shilling.
