I've been reading this site on and off for a very long time now, but I've never felt the need to post before.

I've heard enough of this sanctimonious bull that certain mods keep spewing. "Its our site so ner ner na ner ner"....whats all that about? How old are you people? 10? 11?

Bakedpotato - you appear to be the worst of the lot. Hypocritically ranting that you never edit or delete people's posts - yet I've seen it twice in this thread alone. Whats all that about? I'm expecting my post to be the third you edit - even though I will be mightily f***ed off if you edit my first ever post - I might as well however say my bit.

I've been reading these complaints over the last couple of months and never until now thought that it was any of my business. But all I keep hearing is mods telling us all that "its for the good of the site" or "this is a family site and we will run it that way". Bollocks. This is a dictatorship gone wrong. Freelancer is a game aimed at older teens is it not? The other games you are talking about bringing in here (which I agree with by the way) are all rated games. So what suddenly makes this a "family site"? And what exactly defines a family site?

From what I can gather, the definition of a "family site" around here is flexible dependent on the opinions of the mod that happens to be on duty.

I am the silent majority. I am the people the moderators keep harping on about satisfying and looking after. I am exactly the kind of person that keeps the site alive, forums or no forums, I am a gameplayer and this is a fansite for a game.

And most of all. I am totally disappointed, disgusted and offended by the pretentious little s***s around here that keep throwing their weight around in my name.

You either need to grow up or get a life. If you don't, your bitter, twisted, heavy handed "moderation" will rot this website into nothingness. And I for one will be mightily dissapointed if that happens.

Let's try. It is a nice start when you stop first. As you know and as it is stated in many posts part of the problem is the different position of members and Administrators/Moderators of this site.
Honestly I expect a Admin/Mod of this site to behave, to control his/her emotions even if attacked and to react carefully thought out - that's one of the main reasons why someone becomes Admin/Mod of a site.

So please, to everybody: debate on topic, read criticism as topic-related and do not take it personally.

Its one thing to apologise, but its another to actually listen and understand. As much as I think that your apology is just and honest, I can't help but think that you still believe that it is everybody else with the problem and not yourselves.

The people here aren't trying to destroy their community, as you put it, they are merely hanging onto what they obviously all once loved. Until you changed it.

If a person disagrees with their government they have the right to stand up and voice their concerns. However this government revels in itself so much, it no longer seems to listen to its people. In fact its one step worse than that. This government actually blames its people for its own short-comings and heavy handed policing.

I have never posted in the forums on this site before but I have been playing Freelancer for some time now and coming here for the things this site has to offer. From what I can see bakedpotato does allot of the work to keep this site up and running. I would imagine he spends some time doing it because of the quality of his work. He apologized which in itself shows allot of character and integrity. And your still not satisfied. I'm wondering what it would take to satisfy some of you. What more do you expect of this man?

Actually I was merely pointing out that BakedPotato was squeezing out an apology that he doesn't believe in - because he still believes that everybody else is in the wrong apart from him.

I too enjoy the rest of this site. I actually wish I hadn't bothered to come to the forums in the first place...all its done is show me that a site I enjoy is run by bigots, idiots and over-opinionated children.

Maybe you should just bin the forums...wouldn't that solve the problem? Ban free speech altogether? I spend most of my time looking through the FLmods anyway. Why bother having a forum if you don't allow free speech? Just bin it.
