The way I see it:
The main problem here is, that OT members have an exaggerated idea of their own importance. The Exodites believe that because they have a big post count, that TLR is somehow indebted to them. I very much doubt that any of the Exodites are heavy Freelancer players, although there are most certainly exceptions.
And so, they think that, as the OT forum was were they spent their time here, that it was the main function of the site. Now, I first came here looking for a good site about FL, which is one of, if not
the favourite game I've ever played. When I got here, then, I found something which far exceeded my expectations- tens of new mods being brought out every other day, and a very active FL forum.
About two weeks after finding this site, I figured I'd take a look at the OT forum. It was very good, although my first posts there were utter rubbish (thank god I deleted them
), and so I stayed posting in OT long after I got bored of FL.
But I always knew that the function of this site was Freelancer.
The Exodites keep mentioning how they've "killed the site".
Look at the front page. Let's see:
Well, I can't be bothered to count the mods, but the community seems as active as usual.
So, Lancers Reactor has not changed at all. What
has changed is the OT forum. There are
hundreds of OT forums on the net. And many of them are just as good as this one was. One in particular I can think of is almost exactly as this one was.
The OT forum is gone. It ain't never comin' back. We can debate all day whose fault it is, but there really is no point. The forum is now split in "us" and "them", and the scars from the time of the Exodus will probably never heal.
Complaining about it incessantly won't solve anything. Now I'm not very happy about it, although I'm trying to be sitting on the fence.
