Au revoir

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

*Steps out of shadows*
Thanks for the (predominantly) kind words people, and I'd just like to say that it is great that we have some constructive dialogue going in this thread. Keep it up, because it is discourse like this that promotes change which, I think that we can all agree, is often for the best. Take it easy everyone.

if he had of said "yeah thats right i dont have any problems at all with TLR" I would have been fine with it. but the extra "why should everyone else........" is what peeved me a bit. to me it shows a lack of understanding of how other people work.

Fair enough - agreed

*to the back of esqui's head as he skulks back to the shadow world*

thanks for the welcome and the GBs when i got here. as i have little idea of what is going on i'll stick around to see what happens or at least figure out what has happened. my question posed to any who cared to enlighten me has gone fairly much unanswered so i can only presume the wounds are still open or heads are still down.

as a note on the OT i have in my relatively short time here i enjoyed some philosophical debate and found it difficult to hold a rational discussion while constantly apologising for any and all potential insult for the slightest murmer of religion or anything even slightly controversial. i just accepted that this is the way it always was here. i gather from this thread that there was a time when you were a little more free or perhaps just more mature around here. i won't go lamenting the good old days but i am interested in seeing if this current debate helps open the OT up to a more mature level of conversation.

The way I see it:
The main problem here is, that OT members have an exaggerated idea of their own importance. The Exodites believe that because they have a big post count, that TLR is somehow indebted to them. I very much doubt that any of the Exodites are heavy Freelancer players, although there are most certainly exceptions.
And so, they think that, as the OT forum was were they spent their time here, that it was the main function of the site. Now, I first came here looking for a good site about FL, which is one of, if not the favourite game I've ever played. When I got here, then, I found something which far exceeded my expectations- tens of new mods being brought out every other day, and a very active FL forum.
About two weeks after finding this site, I figured I'd take a look at the OT forum. It was very good, although my first posts there were utter rubbish (thank god I deleted them ), and so I stayed posting in OT long after I got bored of FL.

But I always knew that the function of this site was Freelancer.
The Exodites keep mentioning how they've "killed the site".
Look at the front page. Let's see:
Well, I can't be bothered to count the mods, but the community seems as active as usual.

So, Lancers Reactor has not changed at all. What has changed is the OT forum. There are hundreds of OT forums on the net. And many of them are just as good as this one was. One in particular I can think of is almost exactly as this one was.

The OT forum is gone. It ain't never comin' back. We can debate all day whose fault it is, but there really is no point. The forum is now split in "us" and "them", and the scars from the time of the Exodus will probably never heal.

Complaining about it incessantly won't solve anything. Now I'm not very happy about it, although I'm trying to be sitting on the fence.

Look, I agree we shouldn't debate all day whose fault it is, but we do have to work on the 'us' and 'them'. We do want to have a good OT forum back and we don't want the split in 'us' and 'them' as we are all part of the community. We all have to rethink a couple of things and focus on what we can do to improve things. All I really can and will say is that that's exactly what we are doing with the TLR staff right now, rethink certain things and discuss how we can improve things for all of our sakes.

That's all I want to say for now, but know that we're not turning a blind eye.

i don't get it, why leave because the forums aren't the way you like them. Without you it'll change even more

mc, no offense to your relative young presence on the site, but you really had to be active in those days to know what they are all talking about, and Love Shark, sorry to see you go, take some of the happiness with you that you brought with your presence here, been nice talkin to ya on here, all the discussions..

also Esky, well what can I say, your presence has been dream here, a knowledgable young gentleman, always open for a good convo..

anyway, for the last time, I salute thee Komrad Esquilaxiov..
