Au revoir

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

/\ I Agree with Arcon. (wasn't there a sticker for that )

TLR started going crazy once you added mod forums, then came more mods (5 would be fine, but an active 5), and then came DS.

I dont think you can have an unmodded forum here. I was always told the mods modded everything to keep a good rating on the site. So it isnt a garbo site floating around in cyberspace.

Maybe doing away with OT, since this is where the friction is. Other than the "Best Ship" lock or the occation atempts at discussing cloaks, the other forum have little troubles.

DS is fine its not overtaking fl. Jsut say it guys you can only go so long on an FL site when you dont even mod or play FL!!! dont blame it on new boards whaT kind of reason is that to leave? its becasue people are bored. plain and simple. They spent 2 years of their life posting everday in offtopic or other forums on a game they probably havent played and truly enjoyed in at least a couple months.

so because a forum isnt going the way you want it to you're going to remove it?

Post Fri Feb 04, 2005 10:10 am

DOnt remove offtopic that would make more people leave. if they dont play FL anymore chances are they arent in the FL boards posting.,\

Maybe doing away with OT

No, I agree that OT has friction, but getting rid of it will only cause more friction. If it's done away with you'll get off topic posts in other forums, but people who like to try to follow the rules (like me) will leave. I'm trying to stay civil here, but 19 moderators is too much. I don't think its so much the fact that it's overmoderated, although that is a factor, but to me it seems to be the fact that you always seem to be talking to someone above you. I personally do not support the breaking of the rules, but this is where the overmoderation comes in. Nobody is given the chance to bend the rules to get a decent conversation out. A few days ago I did a search of my name, and went back to February of this year, reading all of the posts I posted. People didn't break the rules often, but they were bent. Nowadays it seems like a the slightest smell of trouble a thread is locked. I wouldn't be suprised if by the time I finish this it's bound for a lock.

I remember when I returned after my "summer holiday" in about September. I hadn't posted more than four times since June, I was too busy playing FL. Sadly that time has passed, and the box for FL sits gathering dust on my shelf, between some old CD cases and Half-Life. But anyways, When I returned Taw had already left, and even though he wasn't perfect he was a valuable asset to this community, maybe more so than the other regulars. Upon my return I also realized that a lot had changed since my abrupt departure, half of the people here were moderators. People whom I had welcomed to this forum were moderators. People who personally have no flaws but some of whom I wouldn't necessarily consider more than regulars. This was odd, but I was okay with it. I soon figured out that this place was not the place I had left, the people were the same... mostly, but the atmosphere had changed. A change not for the better.

What happened to the days of "the four spammers of the Apocalypse"? The days where "bashing" was punished with just a warning and a laugh? The days when there were about 10 forums, and fewer moderators? This place was a great community, we hung around through the dry days and pulled together in times of mourning. This place was my escape from reality, I could meet people from other parts of the world, share different ideas, all in all just learn about society and life. I learned many lessons before my "summer holiday", but I have only learned one since. You can probably infer what it entails.

Ironically, as I wrote most of this, Nickelback was playing on my stereo with "Where the Good Times Gone?".

And don't take this as my departing statement, I'm not going anywhere at the moment, unless this thread is cut off without any just cause. Otherwise I won't even give you the chance to destroy my exit.

Have fun in the Real World Esky.

A correction on the number of mods.

2 admins
1 retired Admin
3 inactive mods
12 active mods
1 semi active mod

Post Fri Feb 04, 2005 1:13 pm

So only about 14.5 active mods? That's a big change

Edit: I hate smileys, I can never get them to work

I leave for 2 years and all of a sudden there's in-fighting... and I'm not the cause of it! This is an outrage! I demand to be brought up to speed! I demand an investigation! Jesus, Bush, Testicles, Joystick! Why wasn't I informed? Where's Bargib? I want to speak to Bargib! I DEMAND to speak to Bargib! Speaking of testicles, I bet EBs have descended by now... where is he, the whipper-snapper?

WHERE'S MY MISSION EDITOR!?!

Everyone else is a damn mod... why aren't I a mod!? I wanna be a mod! Can I be a mod? Make me a mod. I DEMAND to be a mod! ...What's a mod?

What about Zeratural... that was it, wasn't it? Crazy Mexican? Took a bullet? Crossed the boarder and went AWOL? Is he legally absolved of any wrong-doing yet? Nah, he must be locked up... lets send him a fruit basket, ya? And smokes... those are valuable in there, ya know. Speaking of testicles, MAN, did that dude have a set or what? I hope he isn't locked up... I can't imagine how the prisoners would cope w/ him.

One leaves (in a way of speaking) as another returns, the endless cycle continues.
