When did I ever say you have to give up physical pleasure? I said that living purely to feel physical pleasure is the act of an animal, not a human. That is not the same thing as promoting asceticism at all. Furthermore, does it not seem self-evident that you can't find peace and happiness if you are suffering? So you want to leave behind suffering, to go beyond it, to rise above it, right? What is it to rise above something? Transcendence. So your problem with the statement is...?
Also...accepting transcendence? When have I ever said that?
And i never did say "Guide people down the path of transcendence", what I said was merely a promotion of the idea of a teacher--one who spreads wisdom, but more importantly leads students to find their own insights into Life, the Universe, and Everything.
I would love to address the comment on God etc, but that is getting into religion and the mods would beat me.
