there isnt much difference between the creative zen and the 40GB iPod. trust me, my cousin works in JB HiFi.

Anyway, no mp3 player will ever replace cds, the quality is just not avalible in that compressed format. and i dont care what you say, it isnt. i want crisp clear bass, not digitally sampled stuff that is scratchy.

if there isn't much difference, then that makes ipods REALLY not worth the money, as a 40gb zen is $250, and a 40gb ipod is $300. if they are very similar....what would you go for?

The pros of Ipods:

1. They're aesthetically pleasing
2. Musicmatch Jukebox is annoying
3. There is higher quality technology designed for ipods, e.g. a mini-set of speakers.

The cons of Ipods:
1. The commercials are lame and retarded, especially after the members of U2 got on one in order to promote their worst album of all time, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.

wilde, that was one of the mostr ridiculous arguments against the iPod ive heard.

The Zen uses inferior tech to the iPod, and is worth the extra 50. trust me. Apple makes some of the greatest digital equipment on the planet.

love shark is right, the iPod is worth the money for the technology alone. Its light, its compact, the sound output is awesome and yes, its seriously aesthetically pleasing. The creative zen is bulky, overcomplicated and weighty. I know because I've used both.

Wolfy if you have got less than 5Gb of music then don't bother with an iPod, you're right its too expensive for what you want/need. However consider the iPod shuffle because they're pretty handy too.

iTrip alone is a damn fine reason to buy an iPod.

u r talking creative zen and u said 250$ for it, i dont know that u talk for zen pmc because it is 750$ here in Turkey. I've bought it and it is a very nice thing, but it's 20gb space not 40gb and r u talking about zen that plays dvd formatted films, videos, pics as well as mp3's ????

this is the zen i'm talking about - The Nomad Jukebox Ztra zen.

This is what I want, because I've got too little music but too many episodes of South Park stored on my computer.
