Donations To The Victims Of The Tsunami

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Donations To The Victims Of The Tsunami

Its very good what people are doing to help the victims. over here in australia people have donated over $30 million dollars and thats just the public! the charities have raised more money over these past weeks then they have in a whole year!

Whats more amazing is now some charities are asking for donations to stop, since they have already recieved more money than they know what to do with, or can possibly use. :-) On a slightly more tragic note, I heard on tv news today that with all the disaster problems, and people flooding into those countries, there has been a rapidly growing problem with paedophilia rings and child abductions. Its sickening. Disasters may bring out the best in all of us, but sadly, the worst is never far behind.

That's not what "World Vision" said; they *don't* want people to stop donating. In fact, their spokesman intimated that it would be *years* before they can determine how much money they will need. Considering Dawg's statement regarding large amounts of money residing with some charities, I'm even more suspicious about "World Vision" than I was before *narrows eyes*.

Hehe - Esq, it was Medicine Sans Frontier (if thats the correct naming ) that asked to stop pledging money. They have over $50, which is enough for their whole pacific operations, let alone just the tsunami!

chips, do you mean $50 million or just $50?

I would guess 50 mil. Red Cross, Americares, Care, and others still are asking for donations. In the US there's been over 500 million in private donations. Bush aka King Dubya I finally raised the Govt's pledge to 350 million after massive coercion and harassment from other countries and the UN. I'm proud as hell of the American people, but our Govt is severely lacking in competence and compassion.

I thought you were making some kind of bad joke...

My family's gonna donate as soon as we get a chance, seeing as we only want to donate to trusted groups like the American Red Cross.

Close, it's actually Médecins Sans Frontières or Doctors Without Borders. And that's a mighty fine organization too, I might add. Respect.

*glares at Esky* Please note I said some, not all. I still find the second part of my post most disturbing, however.

A hilarious fact I picked up...

while privately Canadians have donated about $150 million US to Tsunami relief organizations and the federal government has donated $80 mil., and even the provinces and bloody cities are giving quite a bit...

the wonderful Quebecois premier Jean Charest promised the great gift of $100 000. Canadian.

Pathetic turd.
