Grand Theft Auto saves family

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

PlanetGTA? Hmph! But the question is, where did *they* acquire their data from? Maybe they are being facetious. In any case, don't believe everything you read .

facetious

Ok, what does that mean? one of my friends says that all the time, and i made a temp link to have it mean 'joking'
What DOES that mean?

@codename:
That i find insulting my my intelligence, and i dont trust dictionaries, nor did i think of that at the time.
I thought i may be able to find a more DETAILED explanation of the matter here, but apparently i was mistaken

Okay. I'm going to introduce you all to a little thing I like to call a DICTIONARY. It works like this:

1. You discover a word you have never encountered before
2. You decide you want to know what it means
3. You go to the dictionary and look it up. Beside the word you will find a definition that should help you understand what the word means. The process of looking up a word in a dictionary varies. In paper dictionaries the words are alphabetized and you have to flip through the pages until you come across the page with the word in it. For example, the word facetious would be found somewhere in between the words "fabulous" and "factoid". The link I gave makes the job much easier. Smply type (or even copy and paste) the word into the field and hit Search. The definition it gave for facetious was "Playfully jocular; humorous: facetious remarks ." That sounds about right to me.

I know I must be coming across as a hardass, and to a certain extent that is my intention. If you really want to know what a word means just look it up. You are much less likely to be given an incomplete or flat-out incorrect definition by a dictionary. Also, I've found that the words that I go and look up myself stay with me more than those I am simply given.

Don't take my general surliness personally, I do this to lots of other people as well.

Edit: @ BF - I'm getting a "This document contains no data." message.

Entering and breaking then pointing guns at the homeowner is not "burglarizing". It's outright robbery. Burglarizing means entering and sacking empty premises.

@ arania, actually codes' entire answer could be used as a definition of the word facetious. only on TLR would you get such a concise and topical display of friendly, helpful behaviour.

@ trooper, as far as i recall there is an age limit a little above 10yrs on GTA so don't listen to all of these bold people who are trying to corrupt your young impressional mind with this filth

@ DSQrn

for example BBC new's is reputable

hmmm???? okay, more reputable i could go with, but not entirely free of a subjective taint here and there.

@ chief

I live in the us
what is it like in the us i live in the me, it gets fairly lonely in here sometimes, just id and ego bickering away all the time. there must be so much more to do in an us. how many are there in there is there a happy chief... maybe a sleepy and dopey one too...sheesh you really do get all the breaks!!!

@everyone, I sincerely hope that does not come across as being too facetious.

"My sig is in the post but the man in the shop promised I will find it witty and topical when it arrives."
