Legit, or Scam?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Legit, or Scam?

I just found THIS site, and i first thought was: YEHAWWWW, Winserver for 250 bucks! but then, i wondered why ANYONE would be selling an 8000 dollar piece of software for 250. So i startrd to a bit of research around the site. It seems fairly legitimate. Feedback, contact systems, online ordering.
The only thing that disturbed me was that they are offering it so cheap, for one, and that the domain name was a '.org' extension.

Anyone had dealings with these people? any opinions?

edit- im from australia, so i converted the currency to australian.

Where do you see it for $250? I see it for $180.

Anywho I'd be cautious, find a site that's trusted unless you get some positive feedback here. It's really horrible that we have to be cautious of these places because of stupid people trying to get your money illegally, It's really sad that the internet has come to this.

Edit: Ah, Australian...

If you are going to buy OEM software, go to a shop so that you can examine the merchandise before you purchase it. Remember what I always say; Trust No-one!

Is it bare basic becasue its OEM? Because I can get OEM stuff like Harddrives and they come without a box and cables.

OEM OS packages usually do not provide for performing an upgrade install which full retail versions make available in addition to a full system install.

The upgrading advantage to those who like them is that they preserve your existing application and hardware setups and only install newer drivers, etc. if appropriate.

<Edit>

Also.... many pirated copied are masqueraded around as OEM versions of legit retail merchandise.

That's a good point, and that's why MS are offering "free" versions of Windows to people who purchased PCs with pirated copies. It is their hope that by doing so they can track down the companies who are selling pirated software.

Para - Am I included? Well that's up to the individual .

Why not just call the Microsoft piracy department and verify if they have that site listed as a distributor?

You should travel to Indonesia if you want cheap software. People have told me (possibly in jest), that you can walk into a computer shop and buy pirated software off the shelf. It could just be a rumour though . Still, it would explain that "cheap" copy of Server 2003 that an associate of mine picked up a couple of days after the program was officially released...

That, I can testify with my own eyes, is true. The most luxurious mall in my city has one such shop. It's not shady business done in dark seedy alleys. Those genious crackers in Singapore, Taiwan, and China and Russia can cleave open anti-piracy locks on any cd in matter of days.

don't know much about history, don't know much about the french i took, and i know even less about any of the tech stuff on this sight, what i do know is always look a gift horse in the mouth and never bet on a sure thing. i have the pleasure of taking money off people for a living and i'll gaurentee that if you see an advert that sounds too good to be true --- it's not true

of course the gaurentee i'll give you is worthless.

seriously though, be very, very careful buying from anywhere if you are not sure. i got some electronic gear in malaisya, some of it still works....sort of! nothing worse than the sting your ego takes when you know you've been had.
