C-Media AC''97 9739 sound card issues

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

C-Media AC''97 9739 sound card issues

Okay, ive had no troubles upto now with my onboard sound card, but for some reason, it's decided to have a paddy and whenever it plays any sound, its jumpy and not quite right...

I've checked with the ASUS (the manufacturer of my mobo) and they say that the CD (which I dont have) has all the drivers. I've gotten drivers from official sources and they are saying that the drivers i have installed are correct, even a PC guru I know is stumped.

Should I bug the guy who sold me the mobo for an official ASUS CD, or just blow some money on a decent creative sound card?

The Love Shark is despereate to get kick booty sound for HL2 back.

Try running in safe mode. If it fixes up, means u have a Memory Issue

Also, the Asus site should have the drivers for it to download. Try that and reinstalling them. Most CD's have old drivers anyway. AC97 is almost the universal onboard sound system. I have it on my Abit board and my MSI board. I just check the Abit and MSI sites for updates.

You shouldn't be using an onboard sound card anyway. Bleh . As Boscoe said, www.asus.com has many drivers downloads and BIOS firmware upgrades. You should be able to download the relevant material from there. Also check all of your speaker, and other soundcard-related cable connections, and also your settings.

thanks for the tips.

Im looking into a new sound card, looking at an SB Live! 24bit or 5.1 Live! card.

I would advise an "Audigy 2 ZS", as the SBLive! supports an outdated verion of EAX. Of course, you could always pick up an "Audigy 4" .

My onboard soundcard suits me just fine Esq. Although I want a new soundcard and a killer 7.1 surround system

My Dell *spits* onboard sound thing crashes all the time. I'll be sitting here one minute eavesdropping on TLR and reading web comics, when suddenly my Incubus or Hoobastank stops all of a sudden. So then I have to shut it down and all that stuff. Drivers don't fix it, and it's gotten so rare I just ignore it and go through the shutdown procedure. My advice is: get a new sound card. They aren't that much and they worked wonders on some other computers I've worked with.

Christmas, is that a BF1942 mod or something?

Wiz - Onboard sound? Probably AC97-based. *Shakes head sadly* You don't know what you're missin'!

Creative SB Live! serves me well

Ah, but when you pick up an EAX 3.0 compatible game and play it with an Audigy 2 ZS and some Logitech Z-680 (or Z-5500) 5.1 speakers, you'll really notice the difference .
