what defines male and female ?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

why exactly do you think the worlds men will die out and the women will be the ones left? isnt it infinitely more possible that the other will occur, that men will forsee their own demise and therefore come up with contingency plans to keep the whole gender alive, and probably remove rights for women so they could never challenge us again? lets face it, there are no women in power to stop the men

i dont think that any gender will outlive the other, longer than 100 years anyway.
think about it, were all equally dumb, at the end of it all, there will just bee a few ladies/men and bam, its all over, we cant have children without the other!

If somehow women happened to become the only gender on Earth by natural means, I would assume that by then we would just become an asexual race instead of dying out.

That'd be weird wouldn't it? You're enjoying your lunch in the park when your best bud suddenly splits in two.

Check out P.D.James' book; The children Of Men (1993) It is set in the year 2021, and women, for some reason can no longer become pregnant. The story takes place in England ( James being an English author) and takes a very good look at male/female roles in society, and what truly defines them.

I just did a quick google search of the book and it looks like they are now making a movie based on her book.

I'm not scientifically gifted, so i'll put it in my terms. SHould be able to understand this.

*pulls up chair*

Early caveman had 52 testosterone thingys. Over the years, this has got smaller and smaller and man himself is becoming less manly.

Something like that. Evolution is making a certain hormone or something else that makes us male. My biology is terrible. Research was carried out one of our research centers.

*blink blink* As long as I dont magically turn into a girl, I think I can live with how ever man

testerone thingys

that i have. :p

It's :

A. Female Hormones in Beef are making men effemininate.
B. The fact that women are better suited to survive the subtle stresses of modern life than men are. We just gotta kill what bothers us and the law won't let us. Women have better control over that sort of stuff. They sue instead.

We're Doomed.

Have a nice day.

I think Bret Bretonian is referring to the fact that for all guys, their Y chromosome comes directly from their father who got his from his own father, and that goes on for millions of years. Especially seeing as our mothers aren't gonna be giving us the Y-chromosome anytime soon. Over the generations detrimental mutations can take place and there's no way that further breeding will remove this, it will affect the victims sons and his sons' sons etc forever. On top of that, since we don't have two X-chromosomes, if one is faulty, we're once again royally screwed. Haemophilia is an example. (Just googled it, other lovely disorders we're susceptible to are Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Tay-Sachs disease, Becker muscular dystrophy and X-linked ichthyosis and nearly all exclusively male)

Having just finished reading The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins:

Suppose a species of animal has two genders, A and B. Other than reproductive organs, there's no discernible difference between them. It doesn't even matter which is which. Now, there are two main tasks to perform in the propagation of any species: caring for the young and "fighting" (meaning any kind of direct competition). Now suppose that a slight imbalance occurs, in that As are slightly better at fighting than Bs, and vice versa for caring for the young. This change can be small enough in the first instance to arise seemingly at random. With this imbalance, As soon realise that they can do themselves more good if they stick to fighting, and the reverse is true for Bs. Thus subsequent generations of each gender are more "specialised" to one of the tasks. Eventually we reach a situation where the As have become what we choose to call (operative word: "choose" males and Bs females.

I thought that it was the steroids in the chickens.

That's bad news for me--I gorge myself on beef and chicken .

then why is there the general assumption that vegetarians are much more placid ?

Post Thu Dec 02, 2004 2:21 am

Maybe it's because people believe that a Vegetarian's substantially reduced iron intake makes them tired and listless .

I heard or read, somewhere, that the coloring that is used in Mountain Dew (normal and diet) can stunt the growth of the male-thingy... best I could do to censor myself.

Also, the abuse of certain drugs, like the ones which were in such popular circulation in the U.S during the nineteen-sixties, had and still do have the risk of defects like decreased testosterone production. Note how guys like Richard Simmons popped up only a few years thereafter, say twenty.

Stupid hippies and their illegal drugs.

Note: Can't remember where I got the Mountain Dew info, bit I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. I got the drug info from the Gelncoe Wellness textbook, issued in the nineteen-eighties. It's as old as I am and yet we still use it here in Clarksville Tn (I'm not a native thank god). MAN THIS TOWN STINKS!!!

@whoever said it: I heard from a teacher that the Mountain Dew thing is just somethng you hear on the streets. The drug thing is true though, THC (Yeah, it's THC right?), the drug component in marijuana does cut down on testosterone according to my 8th grade science teacher. This is the same guy who finished paying off his college loans halfway through the school year, about the time his second daughter was born, so trusting him is up to you.

But what defines male and female? Y(!) do you ask?
