Are mobiles dangerous?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Grom - I'm with you, mobiles don't exactly promote longevity. That's the main reason I do not have, and never intend to purchase one. As for humanity killing itself off through technology, I believe that to be the case, however I do not feel that mobiles are the greatest threat at this stage. *Gestures at article discussing matter/anti-matter research*

bret - Indeed. Only time will tell, however the same can be said about microwaves. They are thought to be dangerous as well by some. Is it possible that they will one day be found to be lethal? Very possible.

I must also agree with EMR being everywhere. To be honest, I have been pondering the safety of computer monitors and televisions, which of course emit radition. Indeed, I once hypothesised that monitor radition caused hair loss, however I didn't have any empirical data to back up this belief. Fortunately, *I* take precautions *runs hand through luxurant mane* .

Don't get me wrong - I do use a mobile. Unfortunately its a necessity in my life nowadays. But I use it the minimum I can possibly get away with (less than 5 mins talktime a week). I only receive calls if they are important and I'm near a landline that I can transfer it to. I only use it for outgoing in an emergency. I text when I can avoid calling and when I press send I hold it as far away from my body as possible.

There are of course other health risks involved with mobile phones...as demonstrated here

I'm just worried that I will be forced to get one when I find a job. I *really* dislike the whole mobile culture, and I absolutely *hate* those damn phones/cameras; they are just asking to be abused (they already are being abused unfortunately) *shakes head in disgust*.

It's inevitable in te IT field Esq, the mobile is right up there with the philips head screw driver for crap your going to need in IT. I'm the same as grom, I use mine very sparingly, always text and only rarely make outgoing calls. Though I do keep it in my pocket, so I hope it's not frying my testicles into sterility, but then again *thinking to psycotic brats in local shopping mall* maybe that's a good thing.

Dang! Ah well, at least I've been able to avoid them this long .
