Favourite musicians? onlyt 3?!? ah well...

Nine Inch Nails - either Wish or Starsuckers Inc. (not the true title...)
The Offspring - Gone Away.
The Beastie Boys - Sabotage

favourite instruments?

Guitar (any, i can use most of them in my music somehow)
the Fruityloops Synths with plugins.
or a Therimin.

Edit:
@Codename, how can you say that you need words for a song? what about all the grouse as trance artists out there?

LS - It's just the way I look at it. The word song implies singing, does it not? That isn't to say that I totally discount pieces of wordless music, far from it. I just don't consider them songs. Also, my way of doing it really helped me narrow down the choices.

Tool -"Aenima" (close run between this, "Sober" and "The Grundge"
Subway To Sally - "Der Baum"

Instruments:
my dad always said that i have a talent for this stuff, but never had the endurance to learn anything - otherwise i prefer (of course) e-guitar, e-violine (used by bands like "The Inchtabokatables" or "Subway to Sally" - some good drums cant hurt as well

Ah, so rather than discrediting them, you've just reclssified them?

so you would have songs (lyrical) and what? tracks, pieces, instrumentals?

So many good songs out there but if I had to choose here's my list:

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Hotel California - The Eagles
Traffic - DJ Tiesto

Instruments are easy:

Guitar, both electric and acoustic
Piano
Saxophone

I actually like all instruments if played from the heart.
For the same reason I like a lot of songs, more then I can think of actually. If sung straight from the heart, like for instance Andrea Borcelli does, it will grab me and I've been known to shed a tear listening to some songs.

Edit: Damn spelling

@nick - I'm totally with you on the "played from the heart" thing. I don't think it matters what the instrument is as long as its played with feeling. Damien Rice has me in tears with his voice, even though he doesn't particularly have a strong voice. Same goes for Jeff Buckley.

Waits for the bombardment of abuse I am about to recieve:

Tupac: Do for love...
Notorious BIG: Mo Money Mo Problems...
Mario Winans: I dont wana' know...

Post Tue Nov 09, 2004 3:39 pm

"Mario Winans: I dont wana' know"

Man, I can't tell you how relieved I am to know that somebody else likes that song. More power to you.

As a general rule I prefer more old-school hip-hop. All the major artists these days are total sellouts. (With a few notable exceptions of course.)

Post Tue Nov 09, 2004 3:41 pm

@Sayian: well...

No, just kidding mate.
I actually like those aswell, except the Tupac one, but that's cause I don't know that one.

On teh Hip Hop, I like:
California Love
Jump Around
Gangsta's Paradise (is that hip hop? that's how much I know )
and various others

not sure about songs.. repetitive listening to them really nullifies their goodness.

as for instruments,

i play classical guitar,
i always wanted to check out the harmonica...
the human voice, not that i sing..

Bohemian Rhapsody...now thats a nice song...esp the one versione done by the Royal Philharmonic orchestra...they leave out most of the lyrics...its absolutely awesome

the instrumental of Against all odds is just as good

Post Fri Nov 12, 2004 12:59 pm

@ Stormtrooper, the song is "Welcome to the Jungle", and that would have been on my list too, but I wanted to have 3 different groups and I already had Sweet Child O' Mine on there. Lol in fact im listning to Guns N' Roses right now

You can run, but run fast.... 1 shot is all I need.

Post Fri Nov 12, 2004 3:00 pm

Yeah, G'nR is pretty good.

Sweet Child O' Mine
November Rain
Don't Cry (both versions)
Civil War

And a few more I can't remember right now. just call teh titles and I'll say "Yes, that's the one"

Post Fri Nov 12, 2004 3:15 pm

to narrow it down to three.. that's tricky They change constantly.

All time favourite 3:

Metallica - One
Iron Maiden - Aces High
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

At the moment:
Chevelle - The Red
Tool - Sober
Dream Theater - As I am

(Ok, that was 6. So sue me.)

Instruments?
From the song's I said I'd better list guitar. Electric Voilins also sound pretty damn neat. A third? Hmm..it would have to be drums.
