You don't need both. Just the Privateer download is enough... unless you want VegaStrike too.

to big for me, and not very user friendly. i ran the mapping software, the number of systems was astounding, i think it was ABOVE 300!!!!

It's quite good, and the graphics are an enormous improvement (of course). Some of the dialogue appears to be missing though (at least for me), and there are a few naming issues. For example, pirate fighters will be called "talon.blank", etc. It's worth trying though, so download it!

I have lots of common sense, I just enjoy being pedantic and annoying people because of their mistakes. I understood really.

talon.blank happens because it is a seperate unit type from the talon. Talon has the standard loadout, talon.blank is a blank ship to which random upgrades are added. It bugs me too though and I'll try to get it fixed

Which dialogue is missing? Bartender/fixer speech? It's a miracle that any of it is in there at all.. In-flight comms can be ripped with Game Audio Player but no one has figured out how bartender speech is stored. We have any of it cause someone held a microphone next to the speakers while playing the original Hopefully we'll get it all someday, but for now the text will have to do

I dont like it....the graphics is horrible, I like the one run in DOS much more...those of you who are running it, which size screen are you using?

I played it, it seems ok...although I've never actually played the original Privateer or anything so I don't know what's good and bad. The Camelot system impressed me though. Trippy.

I generally run at 1024*768 and things look decent - until I land. The base graphics are the same as the original game, which ran at 320x200, so they do look a little low res compared to the rest of the remake They are hopefully only placeholders. BradMick is working on 3d interiors; if and when they finish it should add a lot. Honestly though, I doubt 3d interiors will be in for a fairly long time.

If by freeform you mean you can do whatever you want, yes. It is like Freelancer in that sense. You can completely ignore the campaign and go off and do your own thing.

If you mean freeform as in no storyline then I think it is, although I hardly played it.

There is a storyline, but you dont have to follow it...or I didnt follow it in anyways, but then again I didnt play it long befoe WC Prophecy grabbed my attention

Mam - Thanks for clarifying that, but why not have an alias instead of "talon.blank"? Also, don't get me wrong, I think that the remake is great. As for the speech, I assumed that it would be added eventually . The only thing is that I should mention is that the first time you autopilot or access a menu there is a pause. Still, that's only a minor quibble and I'm just trying to be constructive .

sw - The graphics are horrible? Which game did you say you were playing? The game looked good for me, and I played it on 1280x960 with all of the effects (those reflective surfaces on the bases and Draymans, etc really add something). Did you set it up correctly?

pSYCHO - I know, but I'm even more pedantic that you are, and I didn't want to give you the satisfaction; that's the reason for the veiled insults. Care to play again?
