Laptops - I seek the wisdom of TLR Tech-Heads!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I see what you mean. As I recall, the store was offering an upgrade to a CD/DVD combo drive for a bit more money. Maybe I'll call the other location, website says they have some now.

EDIT: SUCCESS! The other store has them still! Probably can't get it til tomorrow, but... WOOHOO!

DVD is a must, even if you don't use it for games. If you get a writer, it can bak up even more that way.

I can see the value of a DVD-R, but really, I just don't have gig upon gig of material that requires backup, nor do I ever envision having that much. In fact, I believe I have a grand total of about 16MB of stuff right now, which easily fits on my 256MB USB key.

how many times do I have to say THIS IS NOT A GAMING MACHINE?

THIS IS NOT A GAMING MACHINE!
THIS IS NOT A GAMING MACHINE!
THIS IS NOT A GAMING MACHINE!

Does everyone here only read the first two lines of my posts or something? It gets very annoying. I don't need information on high-end super-expensive machines!
So... you *don't* want a gaming machine? Is that what you're saying?

You could always buy a cheap laptop from "ALDI" (if they have them in your country), they are supposed to be acceptable. At least, the only person I know who has one is an ALDI district manager here in Aus., so his views might be a little skewed .

@ arton: actually, it does have XP pro, i needed to get that otherwise it would be incompatible with the School network, it was either that, or run it on Linux 9.1 (serious, i was going to get a Linux notebook originally) (btw, i have too much stuff running, idling, it only has 55 MB ram average, and bottoms out when booting)

Looks pretty good MC, probably great for what ur doing!

A joke:
whe i was originally looking around for a laptop computer, my sister said that she could get a Mac powerbook for $100 AUS, and my mother, being the mony-oriented person she is, tried to persuade me into it! the only mac i ever had to use was an eMac for the school, and it was a bugger to get working with the net...

Thanks for the input everyone. I just picked up my A22M 1Ghz, and it looks brand-new. Very sleek, and quite light. Love it already.
