Fun, anyone? (Shameless Playstation 2 advertisment)
As alot of you know, I work at the Music Store. We sell cd's, dvd's, games, consoles and more like that. Two weeks ago, a fancy blue envelop was delivered by the mailman. It was directed at "The Music Store: Dept. Videogames". My co-worker and me directly opened the letter. It turned out to an invitation to an exclusive Playstation 2 Fall '04 line-up party. And that party was today 
We were welcomed by two Helghasts (the bad guys from Killzone, made by some guys from Amsterdam). Just google on Killzone and see how those guys look like. Freakin' awesome! After hanging our coats we entered the room. Imagine a huge square room, with white curtains instead of walls. In each corner their stood 2 PS2's (so that makes 8 in total) where you could already play Jak 3, Killzone, Grand Turismo 4 and Eye Toy 2. Next to the PS2's there were foodstands where you could chose from all different kinds of food. Off course there were numerous drinks (alcoholic, non-alcoholic).
Then some guy in a fancy suit and a beard appeared on this huge square in the middle of the room. Turned out to be that he was the CEO of Playstation BeNeLux (Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg) After the usual sales numbers (it turns out to be that the games business is bigger that the theatre industry and that we Dutch are #1 when it comes the Playstation/game ratio. The average Dutch PS2 owner owns 7.6 PS games) it was time for the games!
They showed the top of the bill games which are going to be released this fall. They showed the advertising campain for each and every game and I can tell you, this'll be the biggest campain any console ever had.
After this one-hour during video showed on 4 huge screens two side curtains were opened and 40 PS2's at every side showed up so the 200 people could play those games we just saw. I played all of the major games (except GTA: San Andreas which wasn't there, don't ask why as I don't know). Killzone, the new MOrtal COmbat, Gran Turismo 4, World Rally Championship 4, This is Football 2005, Tony Hawk Underground 2, the new Mortal Combat, Jak 3, The Getaway 2: Black Monday and numerous other games. While we were playing, some band started to play music, which sounded quite nice. Some girl started to dance, and soon those two Helghast guys joined here. It was hilarious to see, to bad my co-worker forgot his camera.
After 4 hours we decided to go home, really astonished by what we saw. It's going to be one hot fall for PS2 owners! I can sign-up for EA-world which is the Fall '04 line-up release party, which features EA-games. I love my job
