Indy - The only Chianti I've ever had was Italian (I had some in Italy and my Mom bought a bottle while we were there as well). Unfortunately it was wasted on me. My dad chugged the bottle we lugged back pretty quick though, and he's not a big drinker so I figure it must have been good.
LS - I hear you. Great scotch - and I've only had one that I would consider to be great (CR is good, no doubt, but the stuff that I'm talking about was out of this world..stupid me I forgot to ask what it was) - is like 24 carat liquid gold.
