Banned in Oz

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Banned in Oz

Reading the news on a certain large game site, the Australian video game classification board have banned the new Leisure Suit Larry game because it implies "sexual content"

It will be illegal to import the game in to Australia as well.

I'm a little unsure as to why GTA hasn't been banned in Australia. The game has adult content all over both somewhat sexual and violence.

Same also goes for Rockstars now infamous Manhunt which i bought because of the publicity it received. It just made me laugh

Sorry to break the news to you Esq. I know you'll be disappointed

I heard about that, and I am a little surprised as the other LSL games were (and are) available. Still, Australia is a little conservative in some ways, after all they banned a family-friendly and wholesome game called "BMXXX" as well .

bmxxxx was a **** game anyway. But I hear we may be about to introduce an R rating for pc games..hmm...

You have to be surprised when our censors will let something obscenely gruesome like the Soldier of Fortune series through with barely a shrug of the shoulders, yet as soon as any game hits with minor sexual content they flip out. Personally I'd sooner have my kids watching a bit of good humoured and low level TNA than spilling brains and blood.

funny if its sex they are banning, its wrong to show sex but i movies people are mudering and killing each other, and to a extent its okay but once you have people doinga normal human thing to do oooh ooh its all evil

I think the issue has more to do with the more graphical fidelity now available in LSL2 than in the original? As far as why LSL1 was OK-ish.

@Mustang. Well now you'll have to wait for Loc to bring in the counterpoint. You certainly won't hear me disagreeing with you.

Lol, I don't see why they are so mental over sexual content. After all, without it, none of us would be here and it's been around a lot longer than censorship and killing/violence/murder.

Speaking of GTA, I preordered San Andreas, and am not sure if i'm getting the edited one or not. If per chance I got the edited one, what would a lose out on???

presumably from before we evolved civilisation, i would have thought.

Looked at the box for the game, Rated M for Strong sexual content and Nudity.

I'm not sure wether the LSL trailer is censorsed for the sake of it, but i'm sure the actual game is as well.

May I ask what is wrong with Soldier of Fortune?? It ain't even realistic violence, I mean come on, the Silver Talon is so Powerfull it can blow a head open from where-ever on the map, the .44 Magnum round however has Power, bu not that much, it might be within a radius of about 1-2 metres, but certainly not from the distances you shoot your enemies. Soldier of Fortune 2 is better in that perspective, and more realistic (I mean come on, who has ever heard of a portable Microwave??) but still the Violence isn't so bad.
