Maximum safe heat on the GPU, and safe OC?
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Intel has not been restocking its first line resellers with the 478 pin Prescotts. They really want the newer pinless chips to take over the field. I don't know if they are maintaining any 478 pin production runs anymore.
Well if you can't find a use for an rma......
Try resellers like these guys

i only suggested an RMA to save you money, seeing as you're pleading poverty.
Ed's right, socket 478s are not being shipped out by Intel, they're forcing everyone down the 775 route. get your 478s while you can!
(they've gone off the frontpage because we were the first to get the new processors cos Intel love us)

RMA - returned materials authority. i was suggesting that i could get you something that had been returned to us, not damaged but "b" grade, ie scrotty box, opened packages, missing manual etc. The product itself would be tested and work fine.
we sold all those cpus. I dont think you'll be seeing them again unless we find another shoal in the Intel ocean.. keep an eye out on our forums, we normally post news there. you'll find me there too (occasionally) Ask "gibbo" he's the cpu specialist, it's not one of myproduct group responsibilities. I do networks, control interfaces, cables, ics, software, communications and cams/webcams.

Not to discourage but the longer you wait the less optimistic I am that you will find a pristine brand spanking new 3.4gHz Prescott for an "affordable" price because of the LGA775 tidal wave that is due to hit soon. You may want to heed Taw and rma today.
Thing about Intel is that once they set their mind to it, they can really put big pressure on the market to do its bidding.
