Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory release date pushed to March ''0

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory release date pushed to March ''0

I heard on G4techtv yesterday that Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory that was due for the PC and the Xbox this November is being pushed back until March of 2005.

Why would Ubisoft do this you ask? Two Reasons:

1) There might be some final tweaking Ubi needs to do. You can not and should not rush a masterpiece, like the Splinter Cell franchise is now.

2) The main reason Ubi is doing this is so they can release it on all four major consoles at the same time(yes the PC counts as a console), so PC, Xbox, PS2, and Gaycube... oops I mean Gamecube fans can get their hands on it at the same time.

But now I must go.

They might be trying to make it work with the GeForce 4 MX series...

System Requirements:
Blah
I
Blah
I
Blah

N.B. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow does not work with:
GeForce 4 MX series
GeForce 4 FX series
GeForce 4 Go series

And who can guess what graphics card I've got? Yup, an MX series... lol didn't read the requirements before I bought it... Stupid me...

I never liked it neither, i like games such as soldier of fortune where u go in all guns blazing, stealth has never been a strong point of mine

On the other hand I love stealth games I like normal shooting games too. I liked Soldier Of Fortune 1, it was loads of fun, especially the multiplayer. But theres quite a bit more satisfaction to be had in be able to get around a whole level completely undetected and wipe out guard by guard without anyone knowin where they went . I like everything from "just-kinda" stealth (Beyond Good & Evil, or Sly Cooper 2: Band Of Thieves) to realistic stealth, like Splinter Cell and Thief 3 (I guess) . Besides, the Chaos Theory multiplayer looks badass.

Yes, the multiplayer on SPCT looks good, but I still prefered the Shadownet vs. Mercinarys in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. I like a sort of stealth game like Metal Gear Solid and I also like the full blown stealth experence like Splinter Cell. Don't get me wrong, I like some first person shooters too like Painkiller and Doom 3, oh and yes, Halo 2 and Half Life 2.

And does anyone know for sure when Metal Gear Solid3: Snake Eater will be released?

im pretty sure that MGS3 is due out next november(AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!)

@Gowserpaul: I don't mind using stealth at certain points. In fact sometimes I love sneaking up behind someone and strangling them to death. But stealth SHOULDN'T be the major focus of a game like Splinter Cell. You've got to go in with guns blazing SOMETIMES.

Man, you are nuts. Ubisoft makes some of the best games out there, along with Microcrap Game Studios, like Prince of Persia and Ghost Recon. Who says that stealth shouldn't be the major focus of a game huh? Maybe some people like that type of game, me being one of them. Some of Ubisoft's games do go in with guns blazing with Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon, but as long as a lot of people like Splinter Cell then hopefully Ubisoft will keep producing them. I havn't played Thief Deadly Shadows yet, but I heard it was one of Ubi's best and was very similar to Splinter Cell. So everyone might not like Splinter Cell, that won't hurt a big company like Ubisoft. So if you hate Splinter Cell then just let it be, some people love it like I do.

@Killa: Several things. One: I didn't say it was a bad game. You assumed that I did. I might have said that I really couldn't stand it. But that didn't mean that I didn't find some fun in sneaking around. Two: You made a thread about a game that not everybody's gonna like. You have to expect comments like mine. So you'll have to put up with it. Three: Thief: Deadly Shadows wasn't published or developed by Ubisoft. It was developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive.

The problems I have with Splinter Cell is that one, it's not original. It's been done before. Metal Gear Solid, anyone? Except I loved Metal Gear Solid. Two, if you foul up even a little bit, the game is over. The difficulty level was beyond hard. Which makes this game pretty much inaccessible to newbies of the stealth-action genre. If you want to bring in more customers, make it a little bit more forgiving if you accidentally trigger an alarm in the game. If you keep having to restart the level because you fouled up it doesn't make it as fun. After the fifth or sixth try on the second level of the first game, I just gave up and uninstalled it from my machine, it was just too damn hard.

Im surprised so many found it so hard. I played it the first time and the first and second levels were a total cakewalk, everything went super-smooth until the CIA Level, which I had some troubles in (you cant kill, cant be seen, cant raise alarms, and it involves a kidnapping which is a pain in the ass to pull off) . Even the level after it (Kalinatek) I found extremely easy. And they did let you foul up, correct me if im wrong but arent you allowed to raise 3 alarms before the plug is pulled on the mission? Anyway, really, some people are just not adept at stealth-focused gameplay, the saving grace of every stealth gamer is they get used to how the game is played. After playing the first level in Splinter Cell once or twice, I realized guns blazing (or even SHOOTING at anything besides a light) can cause serious trouble for you. After a little while, I grew used to sticking to the shadows and avoiding enemies rather than engaging them (I even found myself turning off lights and conserving ammo while eliminating nearby light sources, bathing myself in constant darkness)

I respect that every person has tastes, theres just some things that work for some that dont for others. I mean, I love killing mindless rubbles of monsters in DOOM III, and shooting up hundreds of undead in Painkiller. But I also love games like Splinter Cell and Thief where a more subtle approach suits the game. I for one find it extremely satisfying, for example, my favorite levels in Splinter Cell are the ones most people find extremely hard, which are the levels that dont allow you to kill a single target (only knock em out). I also found it great that you had to hide every body in Splinter Cell, which is definitely a plus to realism. Most people I know though had a problem with guns in splinter cell, the first thing that makes the game eye-bleeding hard is trying to use guns to firefight through a level. Your guns PRIMARY and on some levels, ONLY use is to shoot out lights and cameras. Trying to take on a guard even with the SC20k Rifle is a recipe for a very very fast death.
