Homeworld 2

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Homeworld 2

Okay, i am not going to start a: "Have you played Homeworld 2?"-thread.

Acctually, i am going to mod the game, and now, if you have played Homeworld 2, like it and would like to make a mod, then sign up

The idea is... well, there isn't much of a idea yet. All i know is that i'd like to make a race that fits with the HW2 theme. Maybe a Kadeshi Swarm mod, or maybe we could make something up (<--- I'd LOVE to do this ).

So, sign up already if you'd like to join or send me a email to [email protected].

Cheers,
Orillion

i would try to help, but i really dont have any skill whatsoever in the field of rendering or coding.

just a little thing i wanted to get off my chest.. i hate those boarding vessels!! salvage vettes were ALOT more efficient. those things just lumber around. they most of the time get blown to dust if they're trying to catch anything more than another boarding vessel on their own. salvage vettes? against an anti-cap/frig vessel, they can extremely easily catch anything. they'd need escort/diversion force to catch a missile destroyer tho.

You mean the infiltrator/marine frigates? If used properly those things can own, they need proper cover though, for instance once you see your winning the battle and the enemy has a lone BC or carrier out there, shoot and disable its engines/guns, make sure you have lots of cover, and all of a sudden you have your very own cap ship free of charge

how do you mod them btw? got special tools? any links?

Okay, i got the idea of what we're going to create:

The Drone Hivemind/Swarm

The Drone Hivemind are a robotic hive mind, wich was orginaly created by the Kadeshi to protect the Garden. Something went terribly wrong, and the Hive-Drones fleed across the Universe.

They came along races after races, and annihilated many of them, as they saw them as a threat to the Hive. Their leaders are known as Hiveminds, giantic ships with control thousands of ships into battle.

But, such a Hivemind has it's weaknesses. They can't really decide what to do, the Hiveminds does this for them. The Swarms can do easy tasks, as picking new enemies or harvesting, but, that's as far as it goes.

Okay, this is the idea for a new race. Tell me what you think.

@kimk: It's much easier to mod this game than you may first beleive. Homeworld 2 Tutorials

@Lt Cmdr. Ajim: Yeah, look here: Homeworld 2 Tutorials

Edit: Sorry, try now

The first time I saw the Homeworld box it looked real cool and I thought it might be fun to try out, then I noticed that Sierra made it and I decided that no matter how cool it looked I wasn't going to be sucked in to another crappy Sierra game.

Let's get those missiles ready to destroy the universe!!

First of all, I have played HW2.

Secondly, there is an entire forum dedicated to modding it. The problem is the modelling. It requires one of the Mayas and a plugin. They might have found a way around it, but I wouldn't know. I've worked a little bit on the Star Wars mod, but don't have much time to help with it anymore . If you really want to see about modding it, I suggest you look at Relic Forums, Karos Graveyard, and RTSC. They all have references to mods and scripts (or sites with them) so you can see what is being done right now and what is known right now.

Everyone who want to join are welcome. IMHO Sierra's games rocks, but, hey, it's a free world.

@orillion, yeah, i *nearly* got the mayas and plugins, just that with about 50kbs of stuff left, the internet decided to give out. pissed me off so bad i've left it at that.

I never bought HM2 because i played it and its not as good as the originals were. I used to be a modder for the Original and Cataclysm and I loved them along with almost EVERY other sierra game. But lately Sierras games have been going downhill look at Empire Earth.

*glares*

Empire Earth is a very good game.Have you even played it?? i happen to own it and its expansion.they're very good the originals campaigns are so challenging some are almost impossible to complete without walkthroughs.others are very hard to beat WITH walkthroughs.
Sierra is one of the best "Pharoah" type game makers out there.
