I used to send empty smses to the first person on my address book (got myself a SET610) - the joystick/main button is oversensitive and gets pushed in my pocket and keeps doing the default options protocols (go to menu-messages-text messages-write new-send-select recipient-recipient ok? phone number ok?-send)
It stopped when I set the auto keypad lock on.
RILMS is a Canadian, if I remember correctly. "SMS' and "text messaging" is apparently a very foreign concept to north Americans - it's true - read Rheingold's Wired Mobs. It's a culture thing. Europeans and Brits, however, are avid texters. Asians even more so, with the Japanese kids at the top (it's considered rude to talk loudly a la Nu Yawkers, so sms is the alternative). They even develop bigger thumbs because of their habits.
