Eeek, I fear this'll most definately cheapen the holy trilogy even further.

As far as 7,8, and 9 i had heard bach when 4 was done that Lucas was planing these other, but seemed unbelieveable to accomplish. With his tme frame, they won't be done. He is taking too long to get them out.

Somehow I don't think the new episodes will be any good. Actually, to my taste, the quality was degrading after the initial trilogy. Maybe it's because of too much interest in sfx.

as long as they can syndicate it and screw the target audience's parents for the films/dvds/action figures etc, it's never going to stop. refuse to buy into the crap is your only alternative.

way back when I remember hearing an interview with Carrie Fischer about the eps 7, 8, 9 (long ago mind late 80's perhaps?) she was giving out small teasers about them about how leia would have twins blah blah blah... I was really psyched then the books came out (very very good ones at that by Timothy Zahn) and we hear nothing till the prequel started production. So I is wondering if they follow the official books or is he going to screw it up royally? (midichlorians anybody?)

well, what do you reckon he's going to do? he hasn't followed the plots of the SW universe as related in the books (or even the games) so far, even though those products are produced and/or licenced by Lucasarts themselves. Integrity is not an over-riding concern with GL. He just wants the money (hasn't he got enough?)

When George Lucas presented his first "Star Wars" in 1976 he always pointed out (even before first public performances) that he planned a series of nine movies of the so called 'Star Wars Saga'. (At that time, this movie was presented simply as "Star Wars" - it was only later called "First hope". Three years later, in 1980, we saw "Empire strikes back" and in '83 "Return of the Jedi" - without knowing exactly that these films were meant as numbers 4,5 and 6.
We all laughed at the thought, Lucas would go on in this rhythm and produce ALL of the nine - that seemed ridiculous.
But apparently Lucas never gave up his ambitions to fulfill his Tri-Trilogy and <sigh> we all are getting older ...

I am personally going to be buying the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD when it comes out. I've always been a big fan of Star Wars and I always will be. I enjoyed the prequel movies a lot even though they didn't even come close to reaching the greatness that was the Classic Trilogy. I'm also one of the more forgiving fans who aren't as nitpicky about the changes that Lucas makes to his movies. They are HIS movies and he can do what he wants to them. Besides, most of the changes he made to the Classic Trilogy on DVD are actually very subtle. There's only like a few MAJOR changes. That's like only two or three though. The Star Wars movies were made to be enjoyed. Just like any other movie. And for all intents and purposes, George Lucas succeeded. I honestly don't think he's a great director, but he's certainly not the worst one. There ARE a lot of people that are going to be pissed about what Lucas does to HIS trilogy, but there a lot of other, myself included, that don't give a s**t what he does. I DO prefer the pre-special edition movies myself, but the Special Edition versions weren't all that bad either, IMO.

thx Taw as to what he'll do....well I said the books were good but with a lot of character development so i dont think it would translate well to film not enough special effects till the 2nd or 3rd one.... Would like to see a realized mara jade tho
