9th grade!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

9th grade!

i have never been in 9th grade before at another school but learnt alot of things i didn't think i would learn in that grade so im askin if you learnt any of the following in 9th grade

Frued (View of the parts of the old testament, study of the pysche and thoery of myth)
Jung (Hebrew and eygtain myth view. overall myth view study of the pysche)
Dierkhiem (myth. power of society. mana)
Tolkiens recovery thoery. (Tolkiens Esacpist and art thoery of Fantasy and Si Fi)
Meme theory. (thoery of how the mind works)

(yes i understand this) i am wondering is this grade 9 stuff?

How about spelling?

Sorry, erm. The names are misspelled on some of those guys. Your question is a little open ended. In 9th grade some discussion of Freud is likely as he also is a historical figure. Jung might also be mentioned but he would be a little more "advanced" - (see Meme). Durkheim could be discussed at least superficially if the curriculum includes sociology. Tolkien is highly topical today and it would seem likely that he would be included in a contemporary literature course of some kind although how in-depth Tolkien's theory could be open for discussion is somewhat limited - (see Meme).

Meme theory, I think, might be a bit of a stretch in 9th grade - normal but could be included in an honors curriculum ... or whatever they call it nowdays.

I have finally checked back in a few months! Anywho, I'm starting 9th grade too and I doubt that you would, unless you were in one of those special schools for the excessively smart (if that was true, no offense meant).

Dude, this is freakin awesome!
I'm starting 9th grade too!
Sweet!
Anyways, I have no clue what we will be studying at my school, but I'm not taking psychology, so i don't think I'll be starting Freud until next year.

Class of 2008 rules!!!!!

More power to you DSQ ... you could have told us the type of school you were attending to start with, though. Unless, of course, you were fishing.

I myself am starting 11th grade, and didn't learn any of those things in 9th grade, sadly. I encountered some in 10th, and we'll see what this year holds.

@ww2jacob- You may say that the class of 2008 rules, but I feel very sorry for you guys (unless you live outside of the US of course, esp. Washington state). For our state, the 2008-ers are required to pass a battery of rediculous exams (the one that your graduation (post 12th grade) depends on is administered in the 10th grade, makes you wonder what the second half of high school is for), maintain an 'eFolio' (no idea what that means either, just listed in the paperwork), and complete a massively ugly culminating project in order to graduate, on top of regular credit regulations. Good luck!

i dont have to take extra exams

well we cover this stuff in detail and it is kinda fun dare i say it. besides my teacher has a very high IQ about 180-200 also this is kinda easy for me becuae my family has lots of philsophers in it so... but i lve what i am learning (save math and music) and i love my school so i guess i lucked out.

I have no idea what you're talking about JDawg. I have not heard of any sort of test like that in our state. Besides, i go to a privat school, so it probably wouldn't apply anyways.

please exuse my asking but what age are u when u do the 9th grade?

Post Thu Sep 09, 2004 7:50 am

Fat part of the bell curve would be at 14-ish pushing to 15.

Post Thu Sep 09, 2004 11:41 am

I think JDawg was referring to the SATs and numerous other tests, like in New York, the Regents, and so on and so forth. Now on the SATs, they got rid of the analogies (a good thing, those things were a pain) but replaced it with an essay. At least an essay's easier.

ah, memes. what a delightfully disputable subject!
