New Dawn of Gaming

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

New Dawn of Gaming

Vitural reality. no im not talking about some dumb sci-fi thing. but people have been experimenting with prototype vitural reality things. well apperently they maybe cool but they have so ba health probs. i wish i could have a link to give you but this info is from a book. if you play vitual reality games for say 4-6 hours straight you would have hurting eyes (not like sore eye from a computer) and you would be a bit more a gressive at the time not permanent. regualer play can damage your eyes and possible brain damage so if this ever comes out read about before you use it.

Virtual Reality: Load of crap. I remember the whole V/R craze of almost ten years ago. Hell, I even tried out some of those V/R headsets, where you could move your head and in the game the view would move too. It was fun, but it wasn't something I would pay 500 dollars for. They were just a gimmick. Nothing more. After all that V/R publicity crap subsided, I haven't heard of anything about Virtual Reality since. A lot of companies that did those v/r headsets and demonstrations, are out of business. So, I really don't give a crap about virtual reality at this point.

its a sweet idea, but totally impractical. Setting up dual or triple monitors at your desktop would be enough surely to cope with peripheral vision, plus friends could then watch you. i mean actual activity means that the character in the game is restricted to your physical abilities, so superhuman characters would suck. plus your overweight gamer would have a serious problem getting to do anything. best leave moving/looking around to the mouse. also, i think games should retain a certain level of distance between the real world and the game world. Blurring the line by making games seem like real-life is asking for trouble in a very matrix/existenz kinda way.

Some aspects of VR are cool. There's this one arcade game called beach-head or beach defense or something where you get a headset suspended from the cieling that totally imerses you in the fighting. It's actually a pretty night configuration. I would highly recomend it, although you're gonna need to put in 50 cents for each level. --- VH16

the point is that some people are starting to dabble in it now and its unhealthy

Also, it'll be harder for the nutters out there to discern between VR and the Real World ....

Some new games for the X-box and PS2 have games with camera setups that put you into the action. I don't think they were very popular.....

With all these health deficits. Why call it a New Dawn?

It's more like a New Low.

I read a fiction book bout VR, get asuit thats like a second skin, got sensors in, then also a ring with small balls in this detects *walkin* headset which detects facial movement and then a mic, totally awesome you literally live in the game, that I really really want to do

don't waste your time, sw, it's just a pipe-dream. maybe one day, but not yet. leave VR to sci-fi shows.
