another misery added to the list

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Yup i'm complaining about poor me again guess what it is this time huh? huh? can ya guess? i'll give ya a hint, it has to do with my 'eyes' figured it out yet? *sighs* thought so. yes poor me is getting glasses(i need to remember to keep my nose from TOUCHING the monitor, oops did i just say that outloud???)my left eye(or was it my right i can't remember) is 20/200 so i'm legally blind beyond 20-30 feet, ouch i know that's harsh but hey that's what i get for being addicted to TLR *stares acusingly at all the members who made it impossible for me to leave*

So my glasses will be here wedsnday they have transition lenses which is good got a free case to boot *grins* still glasses don't look right on me (yes i admit it i have a fat head, LITERALLY) so enough about my moanings how bout some advice from all you hardcore glasses users out there, personally i hate contacts i just can't get my FAT mind around the idea of putting something in my eye

and laser surgery is too expensive and it kinda freaks me out too, so how did a poor 14 year old like me end up getting glasses this early in life?

besides being addicted to TLR

Ah, don't worry about it. I've had astigmatism and glasses since I was ten years old. Although I haven't worn glasses since I graduated from high school 3 years ago. Haven't needed to. I'm near-sighted, so things get a little blurry after 15 feet. But it's JUST a little blurry. I can't read certain sizes of letters at 8 or 9 feet away. But you're not alone. There are a lot of people out who are blind beyond 10 feet. Don't be ashamed about getting glasses. Believe it or not, some people actually look BETTER with glasses on.

Meh they are not so bad. I was required to grab some glasses about seven or eight years ago. They have their drawbacks, but at least they are fashionable .

If you can stomache it, contact lenses are supposed to be the better way to get correction unless, of course, you decide on some kind of surgery thing.

I was about 14 when i got my glasses. I changed to contacts about 2 years ago. Sure, they are annoying, but i prefer them to glasses.

Dude, I don't know in which 1950's village you live, but you can get really cool, stylish glasses these days. Maybe you'll even look better with glasses
When I got mine, I told myself that I'd only use them to watch tv. But it was so comfortable that I always wear them (except for sleeping, showering etc.) JUst give it a try.

Your monitor can have an effect on your eyes. Set your refresh rate higher arout 85. And get you some glasses unless you can tolorate contacts.

I just set my monitor to 85 Refresh yesterday. It actually surprised me considering my monitor is an old humble CRT.....
Good luck with the glasses too DB

had to get mine cause i couldn't read anything on the whiteboard that happened to be bout 4 feet away.

and yeah,

/me agrees with wiz, glasses are comfy. you dont know they're there. more than once i caught myself looking for my glasses when i had them on

i never tried contacts though.

Contacts - but everyone is saying that.

I asked my optician if staring at screens can damage my eyesight. The answer was a firm NO . It will not ruin your sight at all - it may strain your eyes and make you tired quickly - or give you headaches - but it will not cause you to have short sight.....come on - how could it? It would be a health warning to read books and stuff too if it were!!! Heck - don't look at anything within 12 inchs of your face cause you will be blind in a week!

We would all be walking with white canes within a few years of being born if that were true!!

I got mine when i started driving, and i can pass the driving test without them, so really mine are just an aide, but they sometimes make me look cool. same story as Wiz.

I've had glasses for a couple of years now, and they were originally just for tv/reading the bored, but i couldn't be bothered 2 keep taking them off/putting them back on, so now i wear them all the time

Post Sun Aug 29, 2004 6:02 am

its not shortsightednes i have to worry about itd farsightedness like i said in my original post i cant see anything clearly beyond 20-30 feet.and i doubt glasses would look good on me my head is too wide even after the haircut.

Oh welll i'd preferably be able to see the board and look like a dork than not look like a dork and be as blind as a bat
