Hello, and welcome - come on in, and be prepared to get stuck in!!

First up, this is offtopic - a perfect place to introduce yourself, and discuss most subjects. Word of warning - i say most, but no religion, and no politics.

Okay, next thing - for discussions about everything Freelancer related - we have dedicated freelancer forums. Note the spoilers forum too - as in freelancer discussion we TRY to keep it as free of any spoiler material as possible, because even after the storyline there is ALOT of exploring and finding to be done!! Hopefully reading posts in there will NOT give away the best things in the game before you have had a chance to explore it!

You will notice the modding forums too - those are for the making, learning, and crafting of mods - including ships, systems and more. Although its interesting stuff, and there are some fantastic mods out there - i would advise AGAINST playing any mods until you have played FL to DEATH!!! I mean that, seriously!! Play LOTS of online play before trying mods - as the online aspect is brilliant!!

For servers, the multiplayer and server forums (near freelancer general discussion) are the info centers.

You will see ALOT of forums with strange names - those are dedicated to modifications and their websites.

FInally - OT, off topic. The place where the old timers come to "retire".

Have fun, and feel free to ask questions - HOWEVER, we would respectfully ask you to have a look in forums rules and stickied threads for each forum before posting - as ALOT of simple questions have been asked already - and as you can appreciate, when every new person arrives and asks the same question......well - we have 17000 members, can you imagine what 17000 threads asking the same questions would be like? Choas and horrible! Hence PLEASE use the search function for forums - and select WHICH forum you want to look in, as well as the topic. You can choose the length of time you can see topics from in the top right of any forum.

Sorry if you come across a couple of rants in recent posts - its not always like that - just occasionally we go through a period of new members abusing the regulars...it will die down soon enough (they tend to give up and move on)

Welcome to TLR. No one bothered to answer you questions while rolling out the red carpet.

Only official patch is designed for running an MP server. It does some low level cheat protection and gets you above lvl 38 (among other things).

Best way to make money? Tons of thread on the boards here discussing this question which really is the perfect example of what thius game is really about. You can do anything you want and if you ask 10 people what they do you'd get 9 1/2 different answers. Suggestion...do what you do best...fighter or freighter.

and don't believe what others say about never being able to stay away from here. Mwhahaha
