Official XP SP2 released today.

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Official XP SP2 released today.

XP SP2 is finally on Windows Update. Note that this is NOT the 266MB Relase Candidate oh-so-many people have downloaded and screwed their systems with before READING the damned descriptions, but the final, much smaller release.

Several people have reported that best results come after a complete reformat and reinstall of Windows, followed by SP2 and all updates BEFORE installing games, apps or other software.

Meh, I'm not having SP2 infecting my machine until it has been thoroughly tested by the public.

I have it installed on existing copy of XP Home....no problems.

I do believe this was planned tho...the new shield seems to fit right in the menu.

No SP2 for my machine either. Don't need it. I run my internet access through Windows 98. It's secure enough. Before you start asking, I'm running a dual-boot system with XP Pro and Win 98. Win 98 for my older games and XP for the newer ones like Painkiller and Doom 3. No problems.

I'm not touchin this one. SP1 screwed my system over horribly for weeks. Not taking any chances.

Check the other thread for my views on SP2 (if you can't guess) .

I installed SP2 yesterday evening on my system (I have XP Pro). I haven't had any problems whatsoever, but I didn't have that either when I installed SP1 the day it came out.

I won't install SP2, it doesn't work on my pc for some reason
But seriously, when I installed SP1 (after some research) my pc started acting up. I'm fine with my XP, and I just download the generic windows updates.

Eraser - You'll be sorry; especially if you want to play UT at some stage .

Listen to Taw and myself; if you have a good firewall, and know something about computer security, you won't need SP2; it will do more harm than good. Hmm, I *think* that Taw agrees with me .

Oh yeah, and they've already found two big holes in the public release of SP2. Just thought I'd mention it .
