This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

My comp. is fixed..now on to more problems

Hey I called tech support and got the blue screen to go away. However now I'm running into more problems :'( My main problem is loss of data, because I re-installed Windoze and I didn't have a backup(I wish I knew how to make one). Anyways I'll list some of my problems so far.
1. Is there a disc that should come with the dell computer or something that will let me re-install the programs that cam with the computer.
2. My screen resolution is stuck at640x480 and my color is stuck at 16- bit. Apparently this is because of my monitor not being installed, any tips?
3. If any of you have a linksys router, I need help installing mine and getting it connected to the internet provider or whatever send out the signal to the computers.

1. In a perfect world: yes / In a dell world: most likely no
2. You need to install display drivers, hopefully you should know what type of display adaptor you have or if your lucky Dell have supplied a CD with some drivers that you have hopefully kept.
3. No idea, never used a Linksys. However ou could try contacting your ISP for set-up info or check their website, most have a step by step guide.

1. If you paid for the programs, it's likely they gave you a disk. Otherwise, give them a call.
2. You can always check the Device Manager to see what your display adapter (Video card) is.
3. Sorry, no linksys for me.

A friend once bought a Dell computer, his printer got messed up and he got to send his whole computer back! That's why I never, but never buy a computer from a company like Dell.

Windows update can get you a driver for the res problem. You should have a restore disk unless you have a small partition on the C: drive that holds the programs.

Dell usually supplies discs with all non-Windows software that was pre-installed for you. These should include special drivers for the monitor (if a Dell) sound card, CDRW or DVDRW, Dell system utilities.

The Windows update service should resolve your monitor problem by providing you with the appropriate driver. If not, look for the Dell CD.

<Edit>
Windows XP has a backup tool built in. It may not be the best out there but it is for free and already installed. Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Backup

Well I think I might've been a little hastey in this. The woman said she was going to cll me later and help me install the drivers. What exactly does a driver do? I'm thinking that's my real problem.

In imprecise and loose terms, drivers are programs that are made to help Windows maximize the performance of the hardware components of your PC. They are what will enable Windows to run on your monitor at greater than 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 resolution, for example.

They are tailor made by the hardware manufacturer to help Windows make the best use of the hardware involved.

So basically most of my problems should be gone when the drivers are installed?

your monitor is your car. you need someone to drive it on the roads. from your HQ to other places.

HQ is your processor/motherboard as such, your car is your specific hardware, be it your graphics card or whatnot. you have different type of cars, trucks and stuff, and you need specialised drivers for them. same with hardware, cept it gets far more picky. specific drivers for specific hardware.

but usually monitors are plug and play. you might want to get your graphics driver sorted out. go to your graphics card manufacturer's website and download the driver tailored for your graphics card and install it.

The problems you described concerning not getting higher resolutions on your monitor should be resolved by installing the correct and current drivers. To start, you should install the original drivers for your monitor and, also, your video card... if you have found the Dell CD(s) for them.

<Edit>

Actually, I don't even know if you would call the stuff for your monitor a driver. But it will provide Windows what it needs to know about what your monitor can do and what model it is, etc.

What do you mean "stuck"? Do you mean in the "Add/Remove Programs" list? If so, a little registry editing will take care of that.
