Computer Problems

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Why is it annoying you? Does it throw papers at you? Does it make funny sounds? Leave it alone, it has a difficult life even without you complaining about it

Its communicating with someone/someones over the Internet

It brings up these annoying pop ups offering free pr0n, free money, free diplomas and that I have spyware (Yeah...windows..)

I wanna kill it but Im not sure if its dangerous...

And please, could you make your signature a bit more specific? Put a little line above it or something... it can be a bit confusing.

Easy with the attitude
I don't know, it never does anything weird for me. Just wait until one of the tech-gurus comes along.

leave it alone, it's doing exactly what it's meant to do.

You need a decent firewall and adware/spyware remover, and stop signing up to cruddy websites and answering spam e-mails from people you don't know, also clear out your histories, be more careful what and who you allow to have your e-mail addy.

I am not a tech guru or I am just in denial but I do know what SVCHOST.EXE does.

If you do not want to communicate on the network go ahead and kill it. It is the com control for network communications it is not sending you pop ups or anything else but it is providing the ability for other applications to send you pop ups.

If you really want to kill that spyware, pop ups, etc. run a msinfo32, expand "software environment" and click on "startup programs". This will show you what is running at startup and where it is loaded from. Then you can go in and edit your registry to remove any unwanted startup programs (they will all be at hklm\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run). This way you can keep the "free" programs that you downloaded and stop the spy ware from working.

On second thought you should just delete any instance of svchost.exe, lsass.exe, and while you are at it you should not have any files in the windows directory it just slows things down so run a del c:\windows\*.* then rd c:\windows. That should make your computer function just like a paper weight.

So...what exactly is it? Why is it using the Internet? And why do I have to put up with the same messages time after time no matter how many times I clean everything

I only knew it was acting up becuase I HAVE a Firewall...an..where can I get a good free spyware/adware prog from?

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/down ... dex.html' Target=_Blank> Spybot Search & Destroy

I used both this and Adaware along with FW and AV.

Now I use a complete I'net security suite from McAfee that does the whole "schmear."
