lol. altar boys, that explains a lot I was a choir boy, but all I remember about that was using it as an excuse to meet the choir girls

Out of interest Grom, where abouts in the UK are you. I'm on the Surrey/Hampshire border, and for the last 6 maybe 7 years, the only "tribe" we have in numbers is, like i said, townies. Grunge has never really been a big thing in my area. Goth certainly hasn't either. I was in Whitstable, Kent a few weeks back attending an insurance company meeting(and booze up) and i saw one townie. Everyone else was normal. *thinking i should move to whitstable*

@bret I'm from wigan originally, I've moved around a lot - Manchester, Derby, Lichfield, Birmingham, Cardiff - but now I live in Canterbury, Kent. I've seen every single one of the tribes mentioned (hence why I found it amusing in the first place), and I have to admit that 10-15 years ago I went through stages of a few of these two. Grunge was a big underground thing in the early 90s, especially in the north....as was Goth and New Romantic. Over the last couple of years in Kent I've seen quite a few Goths and Grungers, Skaters and Townies....but more Pikeys than I've ever seen anywhere else in the country.

But saying that, I do work in Chatham, home of the Chav (its where the word Chav comes from - Charver means "child" in romany, and as there was a lot of gypsys in the chatham area, the "Chav" was soon born).

Funny you should mention Whitstable as its just down the road from me. It got quite run down, but recently its seen a lot of new development and is starting to attract a more affluent character. There's a huge hippy community there still - as there is in Canterbury - but they prefer to be known as "bohemian" Very cool place to live at the moment.

@ff my girlfriend is a criminal solicitor - 80%+ of her clients are pikeys. She works in ashford.

silly rabbit-head, you don't think I actually volunteered for the position, do you? I was press-ganged by my parents who saw it as a step towards the priesthood that they fantasised I would join one day. However their obsessive and enforced catholicism achieved only my complete apostasy.

@grom

The actual town centre was "old" i thought.

I was visiting a company called Chaucer Insurance, right next to a Travel Inn. Chaucers building has only been up for a year or so. The new houses that were going up around there looked fantastic. All new modern designs and there was two of these new housing estates.

Where i am nr guildford has turned really pikey though and it is becoming worse. A lot of the nice people are not leaving their homes out of fear. And surrey is supposed to be the safest county although assault and criminal damage is soaring around here.

Actually, I was talked into Sodality too. If you think about it, the degree of organization that has been built for purpose of mind control and agit prop is just
astounding.

when did this thread become taw's life story?

Post Thu Aug 19, 2004 8:37 pm

When doesn't it Arcon?

Taw - Shoor. You say that now... .

Post Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:28 pm

Archie - don't pretend you're not interested, however i can see you've been running amok while I've been away. Never mind, the natural order has been restored.

Esq - you don't think anyone with even a smidgen of intelligence and self-respect would volunteer for such a psoition, would you? Besides, I know that you know better.

Post Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:32 pm

Ok Taw, I believe you. And I'll still hold you up as an archetype of evil (if you so desire) .

Post Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:34 pm

I'm not an archetype of evil at all. In fact, latterly, q the opposite.

Post Fri Aug 20, 2004 9:35 am

Something is really really wrong here

Post Fri Aug 20, 2004 6:21 pm

don't pretend you're not interested
ok then, i seriously will be not interested. running amok, its called getting a word in edgeways, your son will tell you all about that when you're older and he slaps you in a home.

incidentally taw, pronounce yourself as a 'golden god', i want to see the peons' reaction to that or if they'll just say "yes you are, now have some more of our money and adoration".

Taw's not evil. Upon occasion he may express a wicked thought but he's not evil.

<Edit>

Just to bore you all some more. I actually did volunteer to be an altar boy. I thought it would give me an out on having to sit through those horrid masses. My (stupid) mistake. Nothing worse than having to kneel more than the congregants and then making sure to ring bells and stuff.

The fun part was in keeping track of which priest was more of a lush than the others.
They seemed to like that sweet wine quite a bit.

irony indeed from "Arcon" but if my presence so upsets your fragile ego and creates such disruption in to your world-view, then I shall gladly take myself away on a permanent basis, after all it's of significantly less importance to me than it appears to be to you, William.

This is about the third time this week you've had a personal dig at me for no good reason that i can see and it's getting a bit tiresome. If you were female i'd think you were on a period, but as you aren't, i can only assume that my recent absence gave you a degree of self-expression you'd been previously lacking. You above all people know that i detest the fawning adulation that adhers to those of us who've been active here for a long time, yet you persist in accusing me of seeking it, while at the same time seeking it yourself?

be my guest if it means so much to you. Enjoy your life terrorising 10yr olds.

/gone.
