Ouch. I've got a bone spur too. It is placed, oddly, right on the top of my left knee cap. It looks like a devil's horn in the x-rays and the pointy end sometimes irritates the bursal sack on that knee. When that happens it becomes very difficult to walk or put any weight on my left leg.

BUT the doc's say it isn't worth operating on so I'm currently stuck with it.

mine is on the back of my head and hurt like cr*p after they managed to get the swelling down they stuck me in a cat scan machine

Funny thing about spurs is that they told me that they only develop where there is repeated trauma to that area of the bone.

I assuered the docs that I was not in the habit of repeatedly hitting my knee but they said that it needn't be "trauma" in that sense. It could be continous and repeated pressure on my knee cap.

The only thing I could figure is that I used to have a power strip mounted under my PC desk along the left side. My left knee often would rest against it and, when playing games, I figure I used to grind my knee into it while moving about in my seat.

Anyway that's my theory. Haven't really checked it out with the docs. Don't want to go there if I can help it.

Sounds like fun. I was in hospital once; I was suffering from dehydration (long story).

what i can't understand is why they kept asking me the same questions over and over i mean i must have said no 20 times to the question "did you hit your head?", they finally got the point when i told them "no i just found a lump the size of a ping pong ball on the back of my head doc" that ppl is why i hate doctors

i just wonder how they'd go about removing mine (if it comes to that which i really hope not, thats something i'd like to avoid at all costs)

Exactly my point. Doesn't really make sense does it? You'll probably have to think about ways in which for long periods of time you rest that part of head on something that is relatively hard, like a wall, a book or something. Also, do you regularly wear some kind of safety helmet? How does it fit, how old and beat up is it? Is there a screw or bolt in the headband area that might be pressing against that part of your head? Stuff like that.

there is none that i can think of and i don't wear helmets (most of the time) the only thing i have that would need me to use one is my four wheeler (stupid i know but if i hit something i'm splat anyway so why prolong any pain j/k )
