I love to be stranded on a desert island with a bunch of erm girls. They'd survive very well with me as their guide and mentor. Just think of the honour I'd bring them as progenitor of a new race of super-Taws, raised in the purity of Tawakalnic society unpolluted by filthy corrupt Western media influence.

although it would be hard to cope without Al-Jazeera (which I watch btw, did I mention I watch Al-Jazeera? Just thought I'd mention I watch Al-Jazeera)

Still I could have my own tv station, Al-Tawzeera, a 100% truthful and completely accurate broadcaster beaming to at least 3 houses across the world.

"..send another Musa to free his children from dis' Babylon.."

How much is a year's subscription to Al-Tawzeera? I like the idea of a 100% truthful TV station, even if it does only concern the happenings on a small island

Yes Taw we all know you would enjoy being stranded with a bunch of girls. Accepting you as mentor and guide...dont count on it

And your Al-Taweerza would maybe be thruthfull in the sense that all the bad stuff you do isn't lied about it omitted

OK to talk about girls first
I would depend on the type of girl. If I look at the girls in my school, you get theone group, al the cool girls, they would prolly freak out totally get hysterical about all the broken nails and spoiled looks. These will prolly not survive for long, they will not hunt or try to build shelters

Then you get girls who will just plain freak out.

And you get a group who will survive, they might struggle to do hunting and building shelters, but they will do it.

As for leadership etc. It depends on how many strong personalities there are, sure there will be cat fights, but the girls will be able to work better together. here you will also have the struggle between, is cool girl the leader or is practical girl the leader, cool girl will win at first, but later on ppl will realise that practical girl knows better.

Boys better than girls? In some cases the boys will survive better, physical stuff will be easier for them, although the girls could adapt into doing the physical stuff.
A fact of life is that girls are more mature than guys, so they will prolly be able to make more "grown up" decisions.

Guys will be more comfortable walking around in attered or no clothes, where it would be not so comfortable for girls. So I guess both has it ad and disadvantages.

A mix will never work

it won't matter either way what matters is how the indeviduals (sp?) where raised by there parents now if they had everything handed to them they wouldn't survive if they where taught to fend for themselves (like what berries or animals can be eaten) they would survive my father made it a point to teach me and my sister what berries are good and what herbs (like aloe) can help an injury so in case we where walking in the woods and fell or got lost we could survive until help arrived or if we where with him and sth happened we could help

Tightan - I don't quite see the benefit of your post at all! So what was the point? The humour is a WAY off to put it mildly, this is a family site, and being so obviously crude is NOT what we wish to see. Please think more about the context of the whole site before stating something like this again - its aimed at families and children as well as the rest of society. The idea is that unlike some sites, if parents came and read the threads they would NOT be worried about what observations some people may have on their children.

Also - in the good old fashioned way, if your not going to constructively add to an old topic - please do NOT bring it up - this is especially poignant when looking at what you have posted.

Last thing - please remove that sig. Its been done about ten times, and it wasn't clever the first time. It does lead to consternation when some gullable people click on it.

Thankyou

After watching both Mean Girls and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, I'm supprised girls havn't killed themselves off by now...

Didn't they try this on Surrivior: Amazon? I didn't watch it, but a friend of mine told me about it.

In the first ep, the guys bonded together and got everything done before it rained. I don't know if the girls did or not, but they got very wet.

But it depends on the person.

For the girls, if you have one instigator, it'll all go to hell.

For the boys, if you have more then one type of person in the group, then there'll be splitting of the ranks and probally war.

Life: No one gets out alive.

AHHHH! Lord of the Flies? I had to read that book this summer! And write about twenty pages of notes on it! My head will explode if I hear more about it!
Okay, now that you've listened to my griping, I guess they used guys because guys were more important than girls. Plus, back then, they had all boy schools, but no all girl schools. So it was either all boys, or a co-ed. And a co-ed, would create some....erm....pretty obvious problems. So, they had to go with all boys.

Blah, I'm writing exam about LOTF, Hamlet and 28 poem, all to be studied in one day, wonderful aint it

Post Wed Sep 01, 2004 9:56 am

i read LOTF and to me it was a great book
he used boys because if there were girls too the boys would behave
with the absence of a female partner, the guys did whatever they liked. get it? i asked the same question to my teacher once

triangular sandwichs taste better than square ones

LOTF is a great book, one of the best I read and I've read many

I loved studying Hamlet; it is probably Willy's best in my view.

Post Thu Sep 02, 2004 10:10 am

It's Ok, but its too long for Gr12, difficult doing Hamlet and LOTF in one year

It all depends on whether there was a clear leader for the men, someone the people could see as being the best, then there would be no conflict, but if there was several more or less equal contenders for leadership...there would either be grudging compromise or war. Probably war, and it would probably be settled by the first groups to make alliances.

As far as girls go, it's hard to imagine them choosing one clear leader at all. Certainly the girls would be less likely to go to war, but it's hard to imagine them working as one large group. They would probably split into several groups, some groups would work together, others will go to war until there is one group left.

So both would end up the same, more or less.

reading this again put me in mind of a film i once saw called "The Last Island" which was about a group of men and women who crash on an island while there's awar on and become convinced that they're the last survivors of civilisation. not a brilliant film, but the crumbling psychology of the survivors over time and how their fragile existence is destroyed by their own dissent is were the film really shines. def worth watching if that kind of thing appeals to you.
