MyDoom.M or MyDoom.O

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

MyDoom.M or MyDoom.O

Don't know about you guys but I use Google regularly every day. But not this morning.
Google was socked by the latest MyDoom so I kept getting a "no service" error.

Worse, I wasn't able to get to Yahoo or Altavista for the longest time either but they
ended up back online faster than Google.

I wonder if yesterday's TLR missing problem was worm related.

Webferret *shakes head*. I don't trust it. *Looks around suspiciously*

what? don't trust WF? what's not to trust? and they call me paranoid!

it's fast, free, no spyware, has 1 poxy Ziff-Davis banner that you don't even notice and covers about a dozen other search engines. I wouldn't use anything else.

Post Tue Jul 27, 2004 12:18 am

Aha! Advertising! No spyware? Shoor .

It's more that WF takes up resources, and must be installed. I prefer external solutions which don't require installation.

Post Tue Jul 27, 2004 12:21 am

i don't think a Ziff-Davis banner really counts as spyware, do you? Especially since it's their product. C'mon be sensible, Esq. And the resource use is minimal, it doesn't even sit in the systray, it's just another on-demand app. And it's faster because it doesn't sit hogging around in a browser (although you can make it browser based if you want.)

Post Tue Jul 27, 2004 12:28 am

Meh, maybe, but it all comes down to personal preference I am REALLY particular about the utils I install (long story).

You know that's wierd because I watch movies on this site that hosts flash movies. You can leave comments about the movies there but for some reason it said that the comment pages were down O.o. Man alive, no wonder my computer is busted

Google and other search sites were all affected by MyDoom.O or MyDoom.M so sayeth the news and so sayeth Symantec AND McAfee.

Post Tue Jul 27, 2004 7:21 am

MyDoom was not directed at google or any other search engine. It was searching for new domains to infect. Last I heard it is getting names out of address books and then searching for as an example nottheslacker@<any new domain>.

As long as you have installed the critical updates at WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com you should not have any problems. Else you should be updating your anti-virus software and making sure you are not infected then updating your computer.

If I get any new info I will pass it on. However since my group is not being threatened I doubt that I will hear much more about it.

WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com

*shudders* You said the evil word!

And another hint peeps: don't open any e-mails form bogus email adresses.
